CTI Introduces New Program with 6-Week Broadway Case-Studies

By: Sep. 20, 2007

The Commercial Theater Institute (CTI) recently announced its first new program initiative in 24 years, a six week seminar series focusing on the creative development process for theatrical production.

The series kicks off on November 12, 2007, for six consecutive Monday nights and will feature 4 in-depth case studies presented by the entire production/creative team from recent Broadway plays and musicals.

Students will be taken through a detailed analysis of the many developmental issues and solutions that their production confronted.  The seminar series will wrap up with 2 sessions in which participants present their own projects to a Blue Ribbon panel for critique and feedback.

The first three case studies to be presented are as follows:
Monday, November 12 – In The Heights
Monday, November 19 – Radio Golf
Monday, November 26 – The Color Purple

Participation will be limited to 12-15 "advanced" students who have at least some production experience and are currently in the process of developing work for future production.

Applications are available at www.CommercialTheaterInstitute.com or by calling 212-586-1109 and must be submitted by Oct. 1, 2007. Notification will be on or about Oct. 10, 2007.
