"Devastatingly funny...exceptionally clever-NY Times. "Brilliant...One of Mamet's most satisfying and accomplished plays and one of the funniest American comedies in years." -NY Post. "Wickedly, wittily entertaining...What makes the play...such brilliant fun is its marriage of glinting period artifice and contemporary frankness." -Boston Phoenix.
Anna and Claire are two bantering, scheming "women of fashion" who have long lived together on the fringes of upper-class society. As the two women trade barbs
and take turns taunting Anna's hapless Scottish parlor maid, Claire's young inamorata suddenly appears, setting off a crisis that puts the women's futures at risk. To this surprising arena, Mamet brings his trademark tart dialogue and impeccable plotting, spiced with Oscar Wildean wit.
Staged Readings:
TEMPORARY EVERYTHING, Friday Feb 11th, 7:30pm, Q&A following
by Adam Szymkowicz, directed by Erica Gould
A modern-day "Harvey" about post-college idealism bumping against the realities of temporary employment. It's also about finding true friendship and connecting with something real. Brian is harassed by an annoying kid in a bunny suit that only he can see. Miranda is trying to put a stop to Capitalism and sleeping with her boss.
A prolific award-winning young playwright and graduate of Juilliard with an MFA from Columbia, Adam Szymkowicz' plays have been produced throughout the U.S., Canada, and in England, The Netherlands, Germany and Lithuania. His work has been presented or developed at MCC Theater, South Coast Rep, The New Group, Primary Stages, Playwrights Horizons, LAByrinth Theater Company and The Lark.
