A national tour has been announced for All Shook Up, the hip-swiveling musical comedy that played Broadway last year.

Launching at Milwaukee's Marcus Center on September 9th, the musical--which fashioned a new story around classic Elvis Presley songs--will then play engagements
in 34 other cities throughout 2006 and 2007. The cities and venues scheduled so far are: Orlando's Carr Performing Arts Center from Oct. 24th through 29th, Houston's Hobby Center from Nov. 7th through 19th, Fort Lauderdale's Broward Center from Nov. 22nd through Dec. 3rd, Atlanta's Fox Theatre from May 1st through 6th, and Minneapolis' Orpheum Theatre from May 8th through 13th.

While no casting has been announced, Christopher Ashley will once again helm the show; Richard Martini will produce. The original Broadway design team--including set designer David Rockwell and costume designer David C. Woolard--is also expected to return to the production. All Shook Up ran at the Palace Theatre from March 24th to September 25th, 2005.

"Set in 1955, All Shook Up tells the story of a small town girl who dreams of hitting the open road, and the guitar-playing stranger who brings romance, rebellion and rock 'n' roll into her life," stated press notes. The Broadway production of All Shook Up starred Cheyenne Jackson as rock 'n' roll rebel Chad and Jenn Gambatese as small town girl Natalie, as well as Jonathan Hadary, Leah Hocking, Curtis Holbrook, Nikki M. James, John Jellison, Alix Korey, Mark Price and Sharon Wilkins. The show features a book by Joe DiPietro. On Broadway, it was choreographed by Ken Roberson (with additional choreography by Sergio Trujillo), and featured, music direction and orchestrations by Stephen Oremus.

Among the 25 Elvis Presley songs included in the musical are "Heartbreak Hotel," "Burning Love," "Love Me Tender," "Can't Help Falling in Love," "Jailhouse Rock," "Blue Suede Shoes," "A Little Less Conversation," "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel," and of course, the title song.

A cast recording, released by Sony BMG, is available.
