Musical Theater Workshop, with Broadway Actor Kevin Duda, to be held on April 6th from 6-9 pm in Naples, Florida

"They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway" and on April 6th, you'll find those lights shining in the Norris Center in downtown Naples. On that Monday, visiting guest artist Kevin Duda will be teaching a Broadway Master Class for local theatre performers.  The master class will focus on the skills and tools needed when auditioning for the musical theater and help each participant work on their own goals for success.

Duda is here appearing in "Tartuffe" at the Gulfshore Playhouse. He has been performing professionally since the age of 20, on Broadway, National Tours & Regionally. He made his Broadway debut, opposite Laura Linney, in Dangerous Liaisons, for The Roundabout Theatre Company. Mr. Duda also appeared in the Broadway National Tour of Little Women: The Musical, starring Maureen McGovern, and Guys & Dolls in Macau, China.

"Growing up in Massachusetts, we had so many great opportunities." At age 9, Duda made his debut in "Mame" with a local community theater group. "With voice teachers, choirs, dance classes, acting classes...there was never a dull moment in the performing arts."  He continues, "After speaking with students at a Naples High School, I knew that a master class would be a perfect match for the area; it complements the great training already in place, while adding in the professional elements required for the future. My parents have always urged me to give back to the community and this is a great way to do just that."

The 3-hour class will allow each participant to perform and work on a song of their choice with Duda.  "I work in a relaxed way to get the best performance possible out of each performer."  To give each participant individual attention, there is a cap of 15 participants for the class.  Additionally, observers are welcome to watch the process and gain knowledge, without performing.

The cost of the class is $40 for participants and $10 for observers.  "Students should expect equal parts hard work and fun," Duda added.

The one-time event will be held from 6-9pm on Monday, April 6th at The Norris Center, at 755 8th Ave South, in Downtown Naples. The workshop is open to teens and adults. Registration is limited; to register or for more information, call (239) 566-8394. You may visit their website at www.gulfshoreplayhouse.org.
