Casting for Tony Award-winner John Doyle's upcoming London revival of Amadeus has been announced. Amadeus will open at Wilton's Music Hall in London's East End on September 19th.
The production will star Jonathan Broadbent as Mozart and Matthew Kelly as Salieri, with Jess Murphy as Constanze. Eamonn O'Dwyer, Sebastian Bates, Sam Kenyon, Philip Battley, Harry Napier, Michael Howcroft, Susannah Van Den Berg, Elisa Boyd, Sioned Saunders, Michael George Moore, Benedict James and Juliet Leighton-Jones will also be featured in the cast of the Peter Shaffer play.Doyle's hit revival of Sweeney Todd, for which he won the Best Director of a Musical Tony, is currently playing the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. His acclaimed Cincinnati Playhouse staging of Company, starring Raul Esparza, is also set to bow on Broadway this coming fall. Both productions feature its actors doubling as the show's orchestra; Doyle's Amadeus will employ a similar approach.Broadbent's credits include Kenneth Branagh's upcoming film version of As You Like It, as well as "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" and a 1999 TV version of "Alice in Wonderland."
