South African International Ballet Competition Partners With @blacksinballet To Sponsor Entry For One Black Dancer

The 9th South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) has partnered with the digital platform @blacksinballet to sponsor one black ballet dancer from anywhere in the world to enter this year's SAIBC, with travel expenses included in the sponsorship. The 9th SAIBC will take place at the Artscape Opera House in the stunning city of Cape Town from 26 to 30 July, 2022. Dancers will compete in person and online, making this a hybrid competition.

@blacksinballet was founded by Brazilian ballet dancer Ruan Galdino and fellow dancers Ingrid Silva and Fabio Mariano. Brazilian by birth, Galdino who is a senior soloist with Joburg Ballet, is also on the SAIBC's illustrious judging panel this year, all of whom will be present in person at the theatre for the first time in two years. This means that all entrants will have the invaluable opportunity to be seen by the distinguished jury, some of whom represent top schools and companies around the world.

Applicants have until Friday 15 July to apply and should send an email to blacksinballet@gmail.com with all the required details as per what is listed for entrants on the competition website, www.saibc.com. Applications for this incredible sponsorship must be received by no later than COB on Friday 15 July 2022. The SAIBC will host competitors in person and online, and is open to the public with tickets from R150 through Computicket or 0214217695.

The SAIBC is generously supported by The City of Cape Town, the Western Cape Government Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, the Mary Oppenheimer and Daughter Foundation and other Donors.
