Adnan Sami

Glow TV, Blu Blood and Showtime Promotions in association with Hello Group will present the first Bollywood extravaganza of the year this March when ADNAN SAMI - LIVE IN CONCERT plays the ICC in Durban ICC and Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.

After four years, Adnan Sami is returning to South Africa for a much-anticipated concert. Labelled as being one of the fastest keyboard players in the world, the internationally renowned singer, musician, music composer and actor will return to the stage. Audiences are in for a treat once again as he performs a collection of his Bollywood blockbusters including "Kabhi To Nazar Milao", "Bhardo Jholi Meri" and "Lift Karaa De".

Born and bred in the United Kingdon, Sami is well known for having successfully merged Asian and Western music styles and instruments. Apart from being the first person in musical history to play Indian classical music on the piano in a style he pioneered and created through the Santoor (a unique Indian instrument), he can also play over 35 musical instruments including the guitar, accordian, saxophone, sitar and violin.

Although Sami holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Political Science and an LLB, his passion for music made a career in the entertainment industry an inevitable calling. He started playing piano at the age of five and composed his first piece of music when he was nine years old. He rose to fame during the 1990s with several hit albums and has also lent his vocals to many mainstream Bollywood films.

His first single was released in 1986 with an English smash hit in the Middle East which went straight to the #1 position in its first week. He was sixteen at the time and had written and recorded a song for the United Nations and UNICEF called "Run For His Life". This was followed by countless other hit singles and albums over the years.

Shortly after becoming a sensation, Sami was invited by a filmmaker to write music for an upcoming film. This opened the doors for him to compose and sing for Hindi films and which led to him getting acting offers at the same time. His work has associated him with the greatest names from the Indian Film and Music industry. As a classical concert pianist, he has performed before royalty such as the King of Sweden and King Hussein of Jordan and many important Heads of States.

After taking a sabbatical and having undergone a full transformation by losing over 160kg, Sami made a comeback in April 2007 with the smash hit album, KISI IN.

Over his career of 32 years, he has won many international awards including the Nigar Award, Bolan Academy Award and Graduate Award. In 2001, Adnan received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was also the youngest recipient of the Naushad Music Award for Excellence in Music, and was awarded Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2003 by MTV.

Witness the extraordinary musical performance of ADNAN SAMI - LIVE IN CONCERT on 25 March at the ICC in Durban and on 26 March at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. Tickets, ranging in price from R280 - R3000 per person, are available through Computicket's online and outlet stores.
