Four productions that have played the Baxter Theatre have received nominations for the 2015 BroadwayWorld South Africa Awards. The reader-submitted nominations honour productions which opened between October 2014 and September 2015, with the public voting period for the winners running through 31 December.

The Baxter Theatre's production of Barney Simon's BORN IN THE RSA, which premiered at the National Arts Festival before playing a season in Cape Town, has been nominated for Best Ensemble Performance. The cast of the production, which was directed Thoko Ntshinga, included Faniswa Yisa, Emily Child, Francis Chouler, Roeline Daneel, Joanna Evans, Dobs Madotyeni and Zanele Radu.

The set designer of that production, Patrick Curtis, scooped a nomination for his design work on FISHERS OF HOPE (TAWARET), which played at the South African State Theatre's Arena in May this year. He is nominated alongside Jaco Bouwer, whose SAMSA-MASJIEN played a season at the Baxter in January, in the Set Design category.

The only 2014 production nominated was SILENT VOICE, which had its debut Cape Town season at the Baxter last October. Wilhelm Disbergen's nomination is for Best Technical Design - Lighting & Sound.

Voting for the 2014 BroadwayWorld South Africa Awards can be done online. Once you have voted for your favourites, why not head right on to Computicket to book for one of the Baxter's festive season productions, which include the nostalgic REMEMBERING THE LUX, top notch stand-up comedy in STUART TAYLOR'S 2015 IN REVUE, the energetic children's theatre production for the whole family, BANGALORY'S BACK, and the soap-star studded PLATFORM 9 TO PARK STATION? The Baxter's festive season line-up has something for everyone, and promises to add some fantastic entertainment for both locals and visitors to Cape Town alike.
