Sweeney Todd Photos - UK Tour

Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) has released production photos for the final show of its 2022-2023 Season, SEARED, written by acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck and directed by ETC Artistic Director Jonathan Fox. SEARED opens tonight, Saturday, June 10 at 8:00pm and runs through Sunday, June 25, 2023 at The New Vic Theatre. Check out the photos here!

BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that Broadway veteran Merwin Foard recently passed away at 59 years old. Born September 16, 1960 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Foard was last seen on Broadway in Aladdin as a standby for Jafar/Sultan.

The Umeda Arts Theater world premiere production of Prince of Broadway began rehearsals on Thursday, September 3 in New York City, and BroadwayWorld has the first photos from that process below!

Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company runs July 5th through August 18. Check out a first look at the cast below!

Tony Award-winning director John Doyle, who has previously staged Broadway revivals of Stephen Sondheim's SWEENEY TODD and COMPANY directs the composer-lyricist's musical MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park which runS through March 31. Stephen Sondheim is widely acknowledged as the most innovative, most influential, and most important composer and lyricist in modern Broadway history. He is the winner of an Academy Award, numerous Tony Award, multiple Grammy Awards and a Pulitzer Prize. Some of his other accolades include a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center Honors (1993), the National Medal of Arts (1996), the American Academy of Arts and Letters' Gold Medal for Music (2006) and a special Tony Awardâfor Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre (2008).

John Doyle's Tony Award-winning re-imagining of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street began its National Tour, with a pre-tour engagement at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) on August 30, opening ACT's 41st season on September 4 with performances through September 30.

The new revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's classic musical Company opened on Broadway on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 W. 47th Street), and BroadwayWorld was there!
