The second mainstage production of Pasadena Playhouse’s six-month-long Sondheim celebration A Little Night Music opens April 30, 2023 (with previews beginning April 25th). David Lee directs this 50th anniversary production of A Little Night Music with a cast of 19, accompanied by a full-sized orchestra. Jodi Long, who plays Madame Armfeldt, took some time to answer a few of my queries.

"All aboard!" for the next production at Terrific New Theatre, the poignant, slice-of-life dramedy "Bus Stop," by William Inge. This 1950s American classic will be directed by legendary TNT co-founder Carl Stewart. The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from June 13-29, plus two Sunday matinees, and will close TNT's 33rd season.

The production is directed by Leonard Foglia and features original music composed and performed by bassist Marcus Shelby who joins Ms. Smith on stage.

New York underground legends Oneida have shared a new video for “It Was Me” featuring exclusive footage of a CD copy of the Dawson's Creek soundtrack. The video was directed by SR Palm (Sarah Richardson), who found the CD in a box at a New York City bus stop. Inspired by unauthorized fan videos that populate the depths of YouTube, the video for “It Was Me” juxtaposes the 1996 mega-hit “I Don't Want To Wait” by Paula Cole with the expansive experimental rock music that Oneida specializes in. The video premiered this morning via Aquarium Drunkard. The track is taken from Romance, the band's first studio album in six years, out March 9th on Joyful Noise Recordings.

Broadway legend Elaine Stritch was born on February 2, 1925. In 2013, she celebrated her 88th birthday on Theater Talk with musical director Rob Bowman and actor Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, along with co-hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel. Had Stritch not died in 2014, she would have been 93 today.
Alphawood Gallery (2401 North Halsted Street, Chicago) continues to merge visual arts and activism via its critically-acclaimed exhibition, Then They Came for Me: Incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII and the Demise of Civil Liberties. Igniting audiences filled with fedoras, saddle shoes and upended skirts, Money Plays 8burned brightly if too briefly alongside fellow scene-makers Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies; sharing the stages of Denver's Bluebird and Ogden Theatres, The Boulder Theater, 9th Avenue West, and The Derby in Hollywood (as seen in the 1996 movie Swingers).
