Shakespeare in the Squares today announces its 2017 production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Tatty Hennessy, which tours to London's squares and parks from 21 June to 13 July, with a press night at Norland Square on 27 June.  The tour follows the company's successful inaugural production of Much Ado About Nothing in summer 2016 which was performed to sell-out audiences in nine squares across London. The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training Presents A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training caps its 2016-17 season with William Shakespeare's whimsical classic A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, performed outdoors on the stunning grounds of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Directed by Jonathan Epstein, the production previews on Tuesday, April 11 at 8pm with a special 'Pay What You Can Performance,' offering tickets at whatever price patrons can afford when purchased the day of the performance, at a minimum of $3 per seat. The show officially opens on Wednesday, April 12 at 8pm, and runs through Saturday, April 29. Performances will run Tuesday through Saturday. (more...)

BWW Review: THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT Marries Tradition and Contemporary Opera

Austin Opera's second show this season, THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT welcomes Marie (performed by Rachele Gilmore) and 1,500 adopted fathers known as the 21st Regiment. The Long Center's stage is vast, however the regiment is fabulously represented by a chorus of  30 men with sergeant Sulpice at the helm. In the mountains of Tyrolean, Marie's journey to happiness is a mixture of Annie Get Your Gun and My Fair Lady with a French twist. Marie is rough around the edges, understandable for any young woman raised by a regiment of soldiers. However, after she meets the charming Tonio (performed by Rene Barbera), her 'fathers' discover he is a member of the enemy and literally drag him away. Marie's heart is true, as she wants to keep her word to marry a member of the regiment ( we will put aside the fact that they are all her father), despite her Young Love and affection for Tonio.  (more...)

The South Bend Civic Theatre recently opened their new show, It's a Wonderful Life, for the holiday season under the direction of Jewel Abram-Copenhaver. Being one of the most classic stories of all time, SBCT really put on all the bells and whistles to make this show a spectacular piece of Christmas theatre. There were a few details that were outstandingly done in this rendition of an ageless show; these few things really made SBCT's version of It's a Wonderful Life one of the better ones I've seen.
