BWW Review: Gold Dust Orphans Go Greek
by Nancy Grossman - May 9, 2017

GREECE is the word and the place where Ryan Landry and his Gold Dust Orphans take you for their latest musical extravaganza. It's 1950 B.C., the gods are gathered on Mt. Olympus, and the mean girls and toga-clad boys are returning to Olympia High School with a new student in their midst. Will Sandy steal the heart of heartthrob Danny, or can Pandora Spox lure him away, or will he remain loyal to his Titan buddies? Zeus, Venus, and Aphrodite may be pulling the strings and tossing thunderbolts, but True Love is a formidable foe. Larry Coen directs a talented ensemble, blending GDO regulars and fresh faces, but, alas, no Rhoda the dog. (more...)

Similar to an actual carved and decorated carousel, In Tandem's musical Carnival circles audiences with the sentiment 'Love Makes the World Go Round.' Steve Earle Comes to Boulder Theater 8/4
by BWW News Desk - Apr 28, 2017

Almost twenty years ago, Steve Earle and I took a ride through South Nashville. It was down those mean streets that Steve had spent his famous "hiatus" in the early 1990's mostly shooting dope. It was a crazy, unprecedented thing. Here was a guy - the supposed "new face" of outlaw country - who had already put out a near unbroken string of instant classics, including chart hits like "Guitar Town," "Someday," and the immortal "Copperhead Road." BWW Review: Broads' Word Ensemble's THE LADY WAS A GENTLEMAN Comically Examines Love, Identity, Race, and Gender
by Shari Barrett - Apr 26, 2017

During the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival, I discovered the all-female theatre troupe Broads' Word Ensemble when my love of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shew and being a fan of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy led me to the group's first production, Fifty Shades of Shrew. After being exquisitely entertained by the show, I vowed to follow the group in their future endeavors, whether at Fringe or not. So when I heard about their current production of The Lady Was a Gentleman, a screwball comedy of seduction, mistaken identity, and all the fun you can get away with when you're famous, I was more than ready to see what this inspirational group of women were presenting as a pure theatrical confection. And delicious it was! (more...)
