Signal Ensemble Theatre begins their 2013-2014 and 11th Season with the U.S. premiere of This Is War, at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 West Berenice Ave. This Is War is written by Hannah Moscovitch and is directed by Signal Ensemble member and Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra. Preview performances are on Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m., followed by opening night today, August 24 at 8 p.m. Performances will run Thursdays, Fridays and Todays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. and ticket prices are $20 for single tickets, $15 for industry/students/seniors/groups and $10 for previews. Long-time Remy Bumppo Artistic Associate Nick Sandys succeeded in obtaining rights to Seascape to open his first full season as the theatre's Artistic Director, themed 'The Marriage Game: Truth and Consequence?' Sandys will be directing the production, his first time to direct Albee since doing The Zoo Story in Texas in 1989. A Delicate Balance, the first of his three Pulitzer Prize-winning plays, opens on December 7 and runs through January 6. Following that on January 8 will be the Southeastern premiere of The Stages of Edward Albee, the acclaimed new documentary that examines the playwright's life and work, with three showings (2PM, 5PM and 8PM). Connecticut's premier outdoor Shakespeare will present As You Like It, June 13-30, 2013. The show is one of Shakespeare's most beloved and pastoral comedies. Claire Shannon Kelly, currently the Director of Youth Programming for Shakespeare on the Sound and the director of the company's touring educational program, 'Speaking Daggers,' will direct. New Brooklyn Theater has announced casting today for its site-specific production of Edward Albee's The Death of Bessie Smith at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn.
