The Spitfire Grill, based on the film of the same name, follows Percy (Megan Van De Hey), who just got out of prison. A page from an old magazine brings her to the town of Gilead, Wisconson, where she finds a job at The Spitfire Grill working for Hannah (Anne Oberbroeckling), an aging widow who also lives in the building. While Hannah has been trying to sell it for years, Percy suggests she raffle it off for whoever writes the best essay and sends a hundred dollars. They team up with Shelby (Kelly Watt), who also works at the grill. (more...)

New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse celebrates the end of another successful season on Sunday, May 3 with their Annual Gala Benefit, themed 'A Starry Night.' As part of the celebration, the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award will be conferred upon Stephen K. Jones, President and Chief Executive Officer of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson Health System by the former Governor himself. The first award was given to Governor Kean in 1990 and thereafter, named in his honor to pay tribute to an individual, corporation or foundation whose dedication to the arts enhances the cultural life of the citizens of New Jersey. In addition, this year the Playhouse established The Arthur Laurents Award for Distinguished Artistic Achievement, to be conferred upon an outstanding individual that reflects Mr. Laurents' high artistic standard. As the Lyric Stage has shown with Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Big River, and more, our forte is turning a grand musical into a completely thrilling event in our uniquely intimate space. Now, director Scott Edmiston will re-fashion My Fair Lady, the delightful story of a down-on-her- luck London flower girl taken on as an 'experiment' by a chauvinistic speech therapist, into another Lyric Stage winner. Based on George Bernard Shaw's beloved play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady introduced the world to a treasure trove of classic tunes including 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'The Rain in Spain,' and 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face.' Actors Co-op is thrilled to announce its fifth and final show in its 2014-2015 season (and 23rd year of producing theatrical excellence in Los Angeles!) with AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, by Mark Brown (based on the novel by Jules Verne), produced by Thomas Chavira and directed by Rhonda Kohl. AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS will preview on Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7 at 8pm and will open on Friday, May 8 at 8pm and run through Sunday, June 14 at the Actors Co-op David Schall Theatre, 1760 N.
