Fired The X Factor Judge Cheryl Cole Finally Settles Lawsuit

Cheryl Cole started her The X Factor career as a judge on the UK show in 2008, becoming the winning judge twice out of the three series she judged. In 2011, Cole left the UK version of The X Factor to judge the American version. Unfortunately, she was then fired early in the show's first season during the first of many revamps on the show. The BBC reports that 'She sued producers Blue Orbit for $2.3m (1.4m) for loss of earnings earlier this year.The case has now been settled out-of-court, with the production company paying Cole an undisclosed sum.' Producers Howard & Janet Kagan (Pippin, The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess) just announced that a new Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN - the musical-comedy love letter to New York City - will open in October 2014 at the Lyric Theatre. This year marks the 70thanniversary of the opening of this iconic musical comedy created by the legendary creative team of Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, and Jerome Robbins. The Lyric Theatre will be reopened after a renovation being completed by its new owners, Ambassador Theatre Group. This historic theater at the crossroads of 42nd Street and Times Square was created from a combination of the original Apollo Theater, and the original Lyric Theatre that stood on the site, and the facade of which still stands on 42nd and 43rd Streets. Celebrating its 13th season, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart at The Fishman Space in the new BAM Fisher. A fully staged theatrical concert blending striking music, powerful language and biography, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart delves into the unconventional 16-year long relationship between one of the great composers of the 19th century and his patroness, Madame von Meck. Written by Eve Wolf and directed by Donald T. Sanders, this evening-length production seamlessly interweaves a dramatic script performed by actor Simon Fortin (Tchaikovsky) and actress Ariel Bock (Madame von Meck) of Shakespeare & Company with live chamber and vocal music performed by violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Adrian Daurov, pianist Eve Wolf and tenor Blake Friedman. Featuring some of Tchaikovsky's epic pieces including Piano Trio in A Minor, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart represents some of the composer's balletic works through dance both choreographed and performed by American Ballet Theatre dancer Daniel Mantei. The Old Globe today announced it will present two Shakespeare-themed events. On Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Tony Award winner Roger Rees will return to the Globe for a one-night-only engagement of What You Will, his hysterical (and somewhat historical) 90-minute gallop through the world of Shakespeare. On Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m., Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will offer an encore of Thinking Shakespeare Live!, his 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare. This fast-paced, funny, and altogether fascinating program based on Edelstein's book, Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard, reveals a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard. Stage Adaptation of FATELESSNESS Runs 4/9-13 at HERE

From April 9 to 13 at HERE Arts Center, actor Adam Boncz will perform 'Fatelessness,' the first stage adaptation of the novel of the same name by Imre Kertesz, recipient of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Literature. The book is the story of a Hungarian teenage boy who survives a passage through three WWII concentration camps. The play is a 75-minute rendition of the book, adapted verbatim by Andras Visky from the translation by Tim Wilkinson. Gia Forakis directs. (more...)
