I revert to childhood when I see a Mel Brooks movie or show. The sillier the better: the sight gags, the double entendres, the more the merrier. The New Mel Brooks Musical, Young Frankenstein is a real rip-roaring hoot of a show from start to finish as produced by DOMA with a great cast and zippy fast-paced direction and fine staging from Marco Gomez. Sales at the Ludwigsburg-based MANN+HUMMEL Group (http://www.mann-hummel.com) increased by 74 million euros (+ 5.6 percent) to 1.39 billion euros in the first half of 2014 (previous year: 1.32 billion euros for the same period). When adjusted for exchange rate effects, the increase in sales amounts to 8.3 percent. Having previously done so in 2012, US market research institute Freedonia once again confirms the company as the world market leader in filtration. The German Patent and Trade Mark Office lists MANN+HUMMEL Group among the 50 most active domestic patent applicants. The company remains cautiously optimistic for 2014 as a whole. (more...)

Artistic Director Kenny Leon and True Colors Theatre Company have announced the 2014-2015 season, opening in October with August Wilson's personal story How I Learned What I Learned co-conceived and directed by longtime Wilson collaborator Todd Kreidler. Following How I Learned What I Learned, True Colors will produce the 2014 Kennedy Award Winner for Drama, Dominique Morisseau's Detroit '67 directed by Hi-ARTS Artistic Director Kamilah Forbes, opening in February and running through March 2015.
