Based on the screenplay by Oscar Hammerstein II

Based on the novel by Phil Stong

Rodgers & Hammerstein's only musical written directly for the screen is now a stage musical that's had critics raving from coast to coast. Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, STATE FAIR travels with the Frake family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair. Mom and Pop have their hearts set on blue ribbons while their daughter and son find romance and heartbreak on the midway. Set to the magical strains of an Academy Award-winning score and augmented by other titles from the Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook, STATE FAIR is the kind of warm-hearted family entertainment only Rodgers & Hammerstein could deliver!

'I am very honored and humbled to be taking part at the Tennessee State Fair,' said Guy Gilchrist, the cartoonist of Nancy. 'I look forward to having a wonderful time showing everyone how to have fun drawing cartoons, and at the same time provide the keys to unlocking the audiences' most cherished gifts and dreams. 'The message that Nancy Loves Nashville conveys promotes the importance of taking care of the environment is essential and critical that this starts at an early age,' continued Gilchrist. 'As a resident of Tennessee, this has a special meaning for me and I am glad to be taking part in this promotion with our partners with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.' Guy Gilchrist at the age of 24, he was hand-selected to create Jim Henson's Muppets Comic Strip which was printed worldwide in 660-plus newspapers daily from 1981 to 1986.
