BWW Blog: Parker Hughes - An Actors Ode to TechiesBWW Blog: Parker Hughes - An Actors Ode to Techies
by Guest Blogger: Parker Hughes - Feb 3, 2016

I can't use a hammer. I don't know how to use a power saw. I'm not familiar with how mics work, and probably would not be able to mic myself, let alone anyone else. The most  know about lighting is pulling a cord on a lamp. But that's okay, because I'm an actor. I'm a writer. I'm a dancer, and I'm a director. I'm much better at "painting the picture" than painting the set piece. However, don't think I'm neglecting tech all together. My senior year I plan to tech my first show, but for now, I'm content where I am. There's also the fact that I'm not very good at tech. I don't know what makes me bad at it, I just know that I am. But there are people out there who are brilliant techies. I mean, absolute technical geniuses. It amazes me, seeing as tech theatre has protocols and rules and directions, and yet holds so much creativity. (more...)

Political Author Jean Sarantos Pens CRUSH! CRUSH! CRUSH! BookPolitical Author Jean Sarantos Pens CRUSH! CRUSH! CRUSH! Book
by BWW News Desk - Feb 10, 2016

Political author, Jean Sarantos, in her new book entitled, 'Crush! Crush! Crush! (Heads, I Win. Tails, You Die!),' has turned a 'Spotlight' on the economically and politically connected wealthy 1%. The book reveals the inner thinking and overt actions of the very powerful and wealthy wherever they exist anywhere throughout the world and throughout history. Sarantos has devised a creative device for telling their story. A fictional member of this elite has written an 'autobiography' that proudly reveals and explains all that is necessary to understand how he and his like-minded friends have risen to the top of the economic and political food chain. The philosophy for their modus operandi is the same as that of the Rulers in the popular motion picture, 'The Hunger Games': I am a predator. You are my prey. I take whatever I want. I route the flow of wealth from you to me. I suppress all efforts to challenge me. If you resist, I will crush you. 'Crush! Crush! Crush! (Heads, I Win. Tails, You Die!)' provides details and helps 'flesh out' and demonstrate this philosophy. It will help the reader to interpret and understand current events and to help make sense of the turmoil reported in everyday news stories. Thus, the reader will have a tool for understanding all current events. Furthermore, one of the 2016 Best Picture Oscar nominated feature films, 'Spotlight', exposes how the most powerful and prominent Catholic Church clerical elite and leading officials unbelievably systematically attempted to suppress their covering up of widespread and known sexual abuse of thousands of minor children. Author, Ms. Jean Sarantos, has rejected traditional interpretations of historical events learned in public schools and universities. She earned a B. A. degree in Political Science from Michigan State University and earned an M.A. degree in Political Science from The University of Michigan. However, the establishment's 'spoon-fed' limited pursuit of the truth fell far short of reality. Therefore, the author has researched and provided 150 citations, including many current sources provided to help interpret history and current events. Thucydides, Thoreau, Melville, Churchill, Kissinger, Ayn Rand, Robert Reich, Nomi Prins, and Matt Taibbi [whose kind words encouraged the author], are quoted to bolster the author's assertions. 'Crush! Crush! Crush! (Heads, I Win. Tails, You Die!)' is written in a lively manner with cartoons and limericks. Sarantos earned the honor of 'Professor of the Year for Academic Excellence' at Westfield State College (MA) and has completed over thirty years as an educator in public education. She has also published the book, 'It Takes a Potemkin Village (To Raise a Child's Test Scores)' [currently out of print] which revealed systematic cheating by public school administrators. More information can be found online at: http://www.jeansarantos.com/ For More Information Contact: Jean Sarantos PO Box 2824 Midland MI 48640 Phone: 989-839-9080 E-mail: jeansarantos@yahoo.com URL: www.jeansarantos.com (more...)
