Mackenna Goodrich, founder of Arizona Young Actor's Alliance, and host of the AYAA Awards, is an Ohio college student majoring in drama. She started theatre at the age of six, in a production of The Frog Prince in Montana. While playing a 'venus fly trap' she got to 'hang backstage and eat snacks'. She continued theatre through high school, and started directing shows her sophomore year of high school at Hamilton High School. (more...)

NYO-USA to Make Inaugural Tour to Latin America This Summer

This summer, the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, featuring 115 outstanding young musicians from across the country, comes together for its fifth year of extraordinary music making, culminating in the orchestra's first-ever tour of Latin America. NYO-USA's 2017 Latin America tour takes place from July 26 through August 4 with orchestra performances in Guadalajara, Mexico; Quito, Ecuador; and Bogota, Colombia, including side-by-side musical collaborations with fellow young musicians in all three tour countries. New York City Dance Alliance Foundation Awards $275,000 to 30 Dancers

The NYC Dance Alliance Foundation (NYCDAF), a forward-thinking charity committed to shaping the future lives and training of young dancers, celebrated fireworks of their own on July 3, at the organization's 23rd Annual National Finale. An applicant pool of over 200 young dancers, seeking scholarship funds for further education, participated in a National College Audition at the Sheraton New York Hotel, nestled in the heart of Times Square. The audition consisted of a ballet class taught by New York City Balle tPrincipal Ballerina Tiler Peck, and a contemporary class taught by Martha Graham Principal Dancer Lloyd Knight. NYCDAF awarded a total of $275K to 30 recent High School graduates, already committed to a college program from September 2017. (more...)
