The production, directed by Robert Allan Ackerman, will preview from Saturday 2 November. The Laguna Playhouse Executive and Artistic Directors Karen Wood and Ann E. Wareham present a special event, Val Kilmer starring in CITIZEN TWAIN, for a five-show limited engagement. Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. "We are thrilled to bring this extraordinary production to our audiences in Laguna Beach," offers Wood. Wareham adds, "Val Kilmer brings to remarkable life one of the greatest legends of all time and we are honored to have him here." CITIZEN TWAIN will perform five performances only beginning on Thursday, November 21 and run through Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. The Bacon Brothers will be playing a benefit concert in Philadelphia at the Zellerbach Theatre at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 4. The Bacon Brothers, the American musical duo of Philadelphia's born and bred actor/musician Kevin Bacon and musician brother Michael Bacon, will perform two benefit concerts for Bancroft NeuroHealth. Proceeds from the concerts are used to enhance programs for Bancroft, based in Haddonfield, NJ, who annually serves more than 1,300 children and adults with autism, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries and other neurological impairments. Kevin Bacon will appear in the film 'X-Men: First Class,' Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider reports. Bacon will play a villain who fights Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender). The film, which is a prequel to the previous 'X-Men' films, will begin filming in London this fall, the Hollywood Insider reports. It is set when characters Professor Charles Xavier and Erik Lenshaar/Magneto are in their late teens and early twenties. Alive Eve co-stars in addition to Nicholas Hoult, who reportedly plays the role of Beast orginally offered to BLOODY, BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON's Benjamin Walker. BroadwayWorld announced today that Walker will instead lead the cast of JACKSON to the Bernard Jacobs Theatre on Broadway beginning September 29, 2010. (more...)

The award will be presented to Penn at the 22nd Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, January 22nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The Stanley Kramer Award was established in 2002 to honor a motion picture, producer or other individual, whose achievement or contribution illuminates provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion. Kramer, considered within the film industry to have served as 'Hollywood's Conscience' during his career as a film producer and director, created some of the most respected and successful works in the annals of American motion pictures.
