This rock opera feels like Evita or Jesus Christ Superstar on steroids, You can feel the foreboding tragedy looming in fateful inevitability as Mariah Burks, in the role of Kim, gives the performance of a lifetime along with Xavier Reminick as the ratty, opportunistic Engineer and Mike Glaven as the American G.I. who wins her heart and breaks it in two.

On April 8, 2016, at 8:00PM, The New York Pops took center stage at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in The Music of John Williams: From Spielberg to Star Wars. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke lead the orchestra in a celebration of the work of legendary film composer John Williams, with a strong focus on his collaborations with Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg. The orchestra breathed life into some of cinema's most iconic scores, including selections from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jurassic Park. The concert also included a look at Williams' seminal scoring of the Star Wars films, from their beginnings in the 1970s to today's The Force Awakens. Children's Theatre Company (CTC) will end its 50th Anniversary Season with the much anticipated world premiere of the musical based on the blockbuster, best-selling Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The famous book series by Jeff Kinney has been sold worldwide, has been brought to the silver screen through three films, and for the first time ever, is being developed into a new musical by CTC in conjunction with Fox Stage Productions and Kevin McCollum (producer of Rent, In the Heights, Avenue Q, and Something Rotten!). Today in 1991, Miss Saigon opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 4092 performances. Miss Saigon is a musical by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr. It is based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The musical premiered at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London on 20 September 1989, closing after over four thousand performances, on 30 October 1999.The musical represented Schonberg and Boublil's second major success, following Les Miserables in 1985. On April 4, 2016, Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre honored the Broadway librettist John Weidman(Assassins, Pacific Overtures, Road Show) with the company's seventh Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential musical theater writer and composer, was presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy.
