Fountain Hills Theatre Celebrates 30th Anniversary with 30 YEARS- THE SHOW!

In celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, Fountain Hills Theater is opening its 2016-17 season with 30 Years - The Show!  a high-energy musical retrospective of  Fountain Hills Theater's extraordinary 30 year history. Begun as the brainchild of Sandi McGee in 1986, FHT has since grown into one of the most respected and highest award-winning non-professional theaters in the Valley under the leadership of Val Stasik and the dedicated staff. Author and director Peter J. Hill, promises that this exciting, multi-media musical production will showcase - however briefly - at least one song from each of the over 100 musicals presented by FHT since they began.   Huge shows like Cats, Miss Saigon and The Producers, as well as smaller productions like Fantasticks, I Do, I Do and even the half-dozen world premier musicals will be represented.  Thirty of FHT audiences' favorite performers are returning to recreatesome of their finest roles, including Alex Gonzalez, Patrick Russo and Noel Irick. Happy Birthday Claude-Michel Schonberg! Schonberg is best known for his collaborations with the lyricist Alain Boublil. Thier stage musical version of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, which opened at the Palais de Sports in Paris in 1980, opened to acclaim in London in 1985 and on Broadway in 1987. In 1989, their success continued with the musical Miss Saigon, which starred Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce. Schonberg's next project with Boublil was The Pirate Queen, a musical about the 16th century Irish pirate, chieftain and adventuress Grace O'Malley, which opened on Broadway on April 5 2007. ?WaterTower Theatre Managing Director Gregory Patterson and Associate Artistic Director Kelsey Leigh Ervi today announced the directors for the upcoming 2016-2017 WaterTower Theatre Main Stage Season in The Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre.   Directing the season opener, Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash (October 7- 30, 2016) is B.J. Cleveland with Musical Direction by Sonny Franks.  Next up, the regional premiere of Silent Sky (January 20-February 12, 2017) will be directed by Kelsey Leigh Ervi.  The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens, and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord (April 14-May 7, 2017) will be directed by Emily Scott Banks.  Rene Moreno will return to direct Native Gardens (June 2- 25, 2017). THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA I just experienced at the Kennedy Center renewed my faith in the show: it is a delight for all the senses, possesses dazzling stagecraft, and is performed by a cast that mines the romance, danger, and intrigue from the story and score. I declare this production a dream come true. Chris Mann, formerly a contestant on THE VOICE headlines the show in the title role, performing with mystery and power. Brian May & Kerry Ellis to Launch Candlelit Christmas UK Tour This Year

In response to a clamour of public demand, Queen star Brian May and singing sensation Kerry Ellis today announced they are teaming up once more for a new series of UK concerts at the end of the year. May and Ellis will play 11 shows across the country in the lead-up to Christmas. Their Candlelit Christmas Tour kicks off on 7 December in Dorking, with the final date on 23 December in Guildford.
