BWW Review: A NEST OF SKUNKS SMELLS ALL TOO REAL FOR SOCIETY - Worth Watching at Depot Theatre
by Brodie Paparella - Aug 8, 2016

What if the lucky country's luck ran out? Australia has not in the past fifteen years that terrorism has been a key issue all around the globe experienced an act of terror on home soil. We have lost many in overseas massacres, but Australia has been a haven from bombs, shootings and kidnappings during the modern wave of terrorism, which makes it only a matter of time essentially before the events of A Nest of Skunks are likely to unfold. Adapted from Roger Vickery's short story about two Australians who have escaped a detention centre, thrust upon the mercy of a covert network of safe houses, it has translated very strongly on stage with the subtle nuance of Travis Green's direction. BWW Review: Jeff Harnar Dazzles A Sold-Out Metropolitan Room With An Engaging Revival of His '1959 Broadway Songbook'
by Victoria Ordin - Aug 23, 2016

When a show at the Metropolitan Room starts over thirty minutes late because the staff is frantically trying to find chairs and room for the better part of New York's cabaret community, you know you're in store for something truly special. And unless there's a chair thief on the loose in Flatiron who doesn't like Broadway, someone clearly oversold this show and/or lost track of comps; this was extremely vexing with a heat advisory in effect. Still, the mood was festive in anticipation of Jeff Harnar's 1959 Broadway Songbook, the 12th installment in Stephen Hanks' impressive (and increasingly well-known) New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits series. Harnar's show premiered 25 years ago at the Algonquin's Oak Room. Two years later, PBS filmed the collaboration with musical director Alex Rybeck, whose arrangements honor the original compositions but reimagine them in sometimes astonishing ways, making them genuinely creative acts. BWW Review: TINK! Soars Beyond Neverland
by Juan Michael Porter II - Aug 10, 2016

'OMG! Mom and Dad are being such phonies, so I'm going to run away and marry a pirate. Before you think about that too much, let me distract you with this show-stopping production number!' Actually 'TINK!' wasn't as vacuous as all that, though - true to the exclamation point in its title - it did tend to deliver narrative details in bold plot points. Still, Tony Marino's barrel-of-laughs filled book, aided by Lena Gabrielle's tuneful score, with an assist from Greg Kerestan on lyrics ensured that 'TINK!' stood out as one of the more delectable treats in this year's New York Musical Festival smorgasbord.
