Initial casting is announced today (26 May 2016) for Qdos Entertainment's London Palladium production of Cinderella.  The 32 strong cast will be led byPaul O'Grady as The Wicked Stepmother, Julian Clary as Dandini, Lee Mead as Prince Charming, Paul Zerdin as Buttons, Nigel Havers as Lord Chamberlain and Count Arthur Strong as Baron Hardup.  The roles of Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother and the Ugly Sisters will be announced soon.  (more...)

Bush Theatre Honours Commitment to New Writing with THIS PLACE WE KNOW

The Bush Theatre today announced a number of ways it will demonstrate the theatre's commitment to nurturing new writing at all levels, from emerging artists to established artists seeking to try something new. Its September production THIS PLACE WE KNOW will stage six new, specially commissioned plays by April de Angelis, Kenny Emson, Nancy Harris, Sabrina Mahfouz, Barney Norris and Gbolahan Obisesan, in various venues along on and around the Uxbridge Road in Shepherd's Bush. New Hampshire Theatre Project Presents Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE

New Hampshire Theatre Project's Youth Repertory Company will present The Winter's Tale by William Shakespeare on May 27-June 5, 2016 at West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth NH. The Winter's Tale is one of Shakespeare's most diverse and divisive plays, exploring themes of faith, trust, family, love, friendship, fidelity, and maybe most importantly, time.  A tragedy of kings and queens in the first half crashes directly into a floral comedy with shepherds, shepherdesses, and clowns in the second. The link between these two worlds seems to be nothing but a 'wide gap of time,' but discoveries are made and truths are revealed.  (more...)

Twelve winning plays by young playwrights aged 16-19 from seven different states will be presented during this year's festival at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, running from June 2-26. Along with Theatre in the Park, Playmakers Repertory Company and ABC 11, Durham Performing Arts Center is thrilled to present the culmination of this year's Triangle Rising Stars program announced from a record number of applicants. The Triangle Rising Stars Live Showcase and Awards show will take place at DPAC on Monday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. starring the student finalists from Triangle-area high school musical productions. Triangle Rising Stars is a non-profit education initiative created in 2010 to celebrate high school theater students who participate and excel with wide -ranging talents in their musical productions. Salty Brine announces the premiere of a new cabaret, How Strange It Is, as the latest installment in his series, Salty Brine's Spectacular Living Record Collection Cabaret. Salty Brine's Spectacular Living Record Collection Cabaret, which performs every Wednesday as part of Brine's residency at The Red Room (85 E. 4th St.), explores a different iconic album each month in a live cabaret setting.  How Strange It Is, inspired by Neutral Milk Hotel's breakthrough album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, will run on June 8, 15, 22 and 29 with an additional performance on Friday, June 24.
