Magloire's premiere, Friction, is a commission from the Center for Faith and Work in New York City, which offers annual artist residencies. The score, In Flow for solo violin, is by NYC-based composer, 2015 Guggenheim Fellow Richard Carrick, whose music has been described as 'charming, with exoticism and sheer infectiousness' and 'organic and restless' by The New York Times. Carick is co-founder and co-artistic director of the contemporary music ensemble Either/Or, recently taught composition at Columbia and New York Universities, and is a cornerstone of the teaching artist faculty for the New York Philharmonic. Whimsical Puppetry Wonders, a drop-in art workshop for families, will take place on Sunday, June 14 from 1pm to 4pm at The Jewish Museum.  Kids can design puppet characters inspired by classic tales of the Yiddish theater, combining tradition with imagination. Participants will use found objects, modeling clay, paint, colorful fabrics, and wire to sculpt these unique puppets. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to bring the characters to life on a mini-stage! The workshop is co-presented with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene as a part of KulturefestNYC. New York Arts Executive Jean Davidson, who has been affiliated with some of the country's most innovative and successful arts organizations, has been named President & CEO of the Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC), the nation's largest professional chorus and Walt Disney Concert Hall resident chorus led by Artistic Director Grant Gershon and heralded around the globe for its unparalleled artistry, announces LAMC Chair David Gindler. She assumes the post on August 31, 2015. Davidson has served since 2011 as Executive Director & CEO of New York Live Arts, an internationally acclaimed interdisciplinary performing arts center under the artistic direction of Bill T. Jones. Guiding its phenomenal growth and success since its inception, she was instrumental in leading the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company through its merger with Dance Theater Workshop to create New York Live Arts, a new model of artist-led, producing and presenting arts organization unique in the United States. Today New York Live Arts, noted for commissioning cutting-edge new works, its vibrant community partnerships and as home base for the Bill T. Howard Davies will direct Steve Waters' new play TEMPLE, a fictionalised account of the events that took place during the 2011 Occupy demonstration outside St Paul's Cathedral. Simon Russell Beale will return to the Donmar stage to play the Dean having previously starred in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor).
