BWW Review: OF MICE AND MEN Amazes at Monomoy
by Kristen Morale - Jul 21, 2016

Never having seen this on stage but having read the novella some time ago, at the time acknowledging it as one of the most memorable stories I have ever read, seeing Steinbeck's words and emotions transposed on stage by the Monomoy Theatre, bringing to the life this simultaneously sad and touchingly hopeful plot by such talented individuals, really made the impact of Of Mice and Men that much stronger. In my opinion, it enhances this plot to the extent of it being particularly memorable for some time to come for all who are fortunate enough to see this production. (more...)

by Gil Kaan - Jul 18, 2016

The Echo Theatre Company's world premiere of playwright Erik Patterson's ONE OF THE NICE ONES showcases Patterson's brilliantly witty and detailed script with very capable actors directed in a swift and smooth clip. Robert Creighton, embodying the spirit of James Cagney in this energetic, fast-paced, biographical musical, Cagney, playing at the Westside Theater/Upstairs, Off-Broadway, brings the Hollywood icon to life. He has the physical plant of Cagney, as well as a dynamic talent for tap dancing, singing, and playing the tough guy, not unlike Cagney. It was exhilarating to be in attendance at this high energy performance on Friday, June 8, 2016. The world premiere was in Florida, 2009. The show has gone through its own evolution on its way to New York. (more...)

There are some productions where you hear the description and think to yourself, 'this is either going to be amazing, or a complete dumpster fire.'
