BWW Review: Pewitt's Star Turn Electrifies Keeton Theatre's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
by Jeffrey Ellis - Oct 7, 2016

There's something about Tonya Pewitt, a certain, almost indefinable, something that makes her an ideal musical theater leading lady (perhaps, we admit, that's a dated term in these politically correct times – we are, after all, in the 21st century and the election of the first woman president of the United States seems imminent – but in regard to Ms. Pewitt, we use the term affectionately, respectfully and even reverently), attributes that she has accumulated, if you will, in a lifetime spent as a fan of classic Broadway and film musicals. She's charming and oh-so-engaging, beautifully alive onstage in a way only great musical theater stars can be when the follow spot hits them upon their first entrance. (more...)

BWW Recap: WESTWORLD Reveals What it All Means
by Jessica Naftaly - Oct 23, 2016

Guts, gore, heists, shoot outs, revelations, and one gnarly snake tattoo are just some of what you can find in the fourth and most explosively exciting episode of WESTWORLD to date. The episode, entitled “Dissonance Theory,” already starts laying the firm foundation for where the season is headed, while doing what WESTWORLD does best; satiates your appetite but with such incredible flavors that make you want to come back for more just to confirm its brilliance. “Dissonance Theory,” and what the concept of the title suggests, is that the human mind is constantly trying to find patterns amongst their cognitions and understanding (i.e. how your brain works and what it is understanding) but when a dissonance arrises, there is a need to take action to get rid of said dissonance to return to the peaceful equilibrium of before. As the hosts' world begins to unravel from inside out, and the inner workings of Westworld on every level start exposing their pure selfish corruption, dissonances are cropping up all around at a rate so quick, the possibility attaining pure and consistent cognitions is falling too far out of reach.  (more...)

BWW Recap: It's Showtime with Honest Abe on TIMELESS

When the Met's production of Rossini's L'ITALIANA IN ALGIERI made its debut in 1973, it must have seemed a welcome laugh riot. Think of it as a kind of Hope-Crosby “Road” picture from the '40s. Adriana Parrinello Launches TEMPTATION TO SIN
by BWW News Desk - Oct 11, 2016

Tony Giacolone and Laura Knight are finally starting to make their dreams come true, preparing for their wedding and expecting a child a few months later. They are free of ties to the mob, and they are putting the past behind them. But their optimism may be premature as others may come between the pair, whose continuing story is told in a new book released by Dog Ear Publishing. In 'Temptation to Sin,' Tony is recovering from a mental breakdown. Although he's made lots of progress, his psychiatrist wants to probe deeper, questioning his alternate personality, Max, about memory gaps from his childhood because he suspects Tony was abused. What the two will discover about Tony's past is shocking, and it puts his bright future with Laura at risk as he keeps the shameful memories to himself in hopes of keeping her from more pain. Laura prays for Tony's recovery and wonders what has changed her fiance's attitude. As she fights to keep their relationship on the right track, she turns to God for help. Her grandfather Nino Valente, a former crime Boss, is working to redeem himself to have a life with Laura that he never had with his daughter Cara, whom he cut off when she married Laura's father. He's not sure Tony is the right man for her and deserves his beautiful granddaughter, but can he learn to put the decision in God's hands? Those in the underworld aren't quite ready to believe Nino has given up his life of crime, and some still in that life maneuver to take advantage of the situation. Someone close to him uses that relationship to plan deadly revenge so he can take what he wants. A stalker creeps into Laura's life, and a seductress tries to woo Tony away from Laura, leading Tony to begin to have doubts about going through with the wedding, especially once he discovers new revelations about his past. It's time to put their lives into God's loving care before it's too late and they fall to the temptation to sin. Author Adriana Parrinello, the youngest of five children in a traditional Sicilian family, grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. She began writing a novel in her teens and picked up her pen again when her husband, Matteo, helped care for their three children, combining her passion for writing with her faith.
