Montego Glover and More to Star in The Old Globe's THE ROYALE; Cast & Creatives Set!

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for Marco Ramirez's ('Orange is the New Black,' 'Sons of Anarchy') wildly theatrical new play The Royale, directed by two-time Obie Award-winning and Drama Desk Award-nominated Rachel Chavkin. Founding Artistic Director of New York's the TEAM, Chavkin most recently won accolades for Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 (The New York Times, Time Out New York, and New York Post Critics's Picks, and Top Ten of 2012 and 2013). The Royale will run October 4 to November 2 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run October 4 - 8. A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, continues its 2014-2015 REVOLUTIONary season with The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, which opens on Saturday, September 27 and runs through Saturday, November 22, 2014. Directed by five-time L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award-winner Michael Michetti, this is the second production of The Importance of Being Earnest for A Noise Within, which mounted the play originally in their 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. URBAN MOMFARE Extends Run in 2014 FringeNYC Encore Series, 9/21-28

Urban Momfare has been selected to extend its run at the FringeNYC Encore Series after a critically acclaimed run at the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival in August. Book by Pamela Weiler Grayson and Alice Jankell, music and lyrics by Pamela Weiler Grayson, directed by Alice Jankell and musical direction by Clare Cooper. Urban Momfare is being produced by Emerging Artists Theatre Company (EAT). A workshop performance of the musical was previously presented at EAT's New Work Series in March of 2013. (more...)

Charlie Pollock and Mary Kate Morrissey to Star in Signature Theatre's ELMER GANTRY This Fall

Signature Theatre has announced the cast of Elmer Gantry, a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. This will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre October 7 - November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006. As the 2014 season draws to an end, Davis McCallum, Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) gave friends and fans something to look forward to when he announced the 2015 season at a special Sneak Peak event on Saturday evening. Noting that the pieces that he has chosen share in the deep belief in the magic of storytelling, McCallum announced that the 2015 productions will be The Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Dennis O'Hare, and a fourth, soon to be revealed production. 'Each of these pieces aims to transport the audience with the simplest and most powerful of theatrical means - language, wit, movement, commitment, and passion,' he told the assembled crowd. Bernstein and Marguerite Krupp's Olympics Über Alles, beginning a limited engagement tomorrow, Wednesday August 27th at St. Luke's Theater (308 West 46th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). Debra Whitfield directs a cast that features Jim DiMunno Tim Dowd, Michael Engberg, Amy Handra, Darrell Purcell, Joshua Quat, Stewart A. Schneck, and Jenn Susi. This limited run continues through September 21st only. Olympics Über Alles will have scenic and lighting design by Duane Pagano with costume design by Janice O'Donnell and sound and projections design by Paul Bourgeois. Olney Theatre Center's National Players, America's longest-running touring company, opens their 66th Tour with Shakespeare's As You Like It August 27 - 31 on the Historic Stage. All the world's a stage in Shakespeare's classic love story about concealed identities and leaving home to find oneself. Running away to the woods to begin anew, Rosalind is surprised to find true love instead. Can she make a new home of this strange new world? Larry Yando to Star in KING LEAR at Chicago Shakespeare Theater This Fall

Nicholas L. Ashe, Grantham Coleman and Jeremy Pope to Star in West Coast Premiere of CHOIR BOY at the Geffen This Fall
