Based on the film Passione d'Amore directed by Ettore Scola

Based on the novel Fosca by I. U. Tarchetti

PASSION, winner of 4 Tony Awards including Best Music and Lyrics, Best Book, and Best Musical, features music and lyrics by the acclaimed Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Company, Follies, Into The Woods, Gypsy) and book by James Lapine (Falsettos, Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park With George).

PASSION opened on Broadway in 1994, and received its London revival in 2010 at the Donmar Warehouse as part of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebrations.

Stephen Sondheim's PASSION revolves around a handsome Italian solider, Giorgio, separated from his beautiful mistress, who is shattered and ultimately changed by the unconditional and obsessive love of Fosca, his Colonel's chronically ill and plain cousin. Her unrelenting passions force him to re-evaluate his beliefs about love and attraction between two human beings.

'The MLG South Coast has been in business for over 40 years and self-proclaimed Mark Kostabi is a California State University Fullerton alumn with Southern California roots that we associate with as a local art business,' said Kenneth W. Lawrence, Gallery Director. 'The City of Costa Mesa residents are exposed to the fine taste of performing arts, yet, to celebrate the accomplishments of Mr. Mark Kostabi shall bring inspiration to the emerging visual artists,' said Stephen Mensinger, Mayor of Costa Mesa. 'Our Cultural Arts Committee works with City Council to bring art awareness to the residents in the City of the Arts.' BWW Dance Review: City Ballet Miscasts the Founder's Classics
by Juan Michael Porter II - Oct 17, 2016

The state of any company's dancing can be gauged by looking at how it performs its founder's work. Of course that is no easy feat to assess with City Ballet, what with its glorious repertoire. BWW Review: Splendid Cast Is the Reason to See SPINDLE CITY
by Don Grigware - Oct 17, 2016

I have heard this little double couplet poem since childhood, and have always been terrified by it, so, if I see a story depicted about accused murderess Lizzie Borden of Fall River, Massachusetts, I expect two people to end up corpses, her stepmother and her father. In the new musical by Katrina Wood Spindle City: The Lizzie Borden Musical, now playing at the Secret Rose Theatre, only her father's murder is enacted. But... Lizzie loved her father, in spite of his intolerable business tactics, and... despised her money-hungry stepmother. Does this omission of her murder from the retelling of the infamous story make any sense? Hardly. But that's just one of the problems plaguing this uneven musical at the Secret Rose through November 5. (more...)
