ZOE AND FRIENDS Benefit to Support MORE THAN ME Foundation in Liberia; Concert at Cap 21, 7/21

Javanna Productions M.O.V.E. and Mackensi and Company present ZOE and Friends, a one night event to benefit the MORE THAN ME Foundation. MORE THAN ME operates in Liberia to provide girls in the West Point slum with access to Education. The MORE THAN ME Academy is the first tuition-free, all girls school in Liberia. In addition to education, MORE THAN ME provides young women with two meals a day, access to healthcare, a library and computer lab, and an after school program aimed at keeping girls off the streets. STAGE TUBE: Disney Medley from Danielle Hope's Smashing London Cabaret Debut

Danielle Hope performed her first cabaret show at The Delfont Room on June 26. Amongst many highlights of the evening was a Disney medley, much to the audience's excitement. She sang songs from classics like Cinderella as well as from modern Disney movies like Tangled. As would be expected, she received rapturous applause for her cabaret debut. Originator of the National Oz Museum, Willard Carroll, to Speak at Freeport Players' Matinee of WIZARD OF OZ, 7/20

Freeport Players announces an exciting addition to its blockbuster July production of The Wizard of Oz, on the 75th anniversary of the beloved 1939 MGM movie. Willard Carroll, the premier collector of original Wizard of Oz memorabilia and originator of the National Oz Museum, will speak before the matinee performance on Sunday, July 20, at 12:30 pm. Carroll will also answer questions about his collection and the museum, and will show a brief video. He began collecting Oz items as a child, and owns thousands of them, including the hourglass used by the Wicked Witch, an original costume worn by one of the Lollipop Guild Munchkins, and a dress worn by Judy Garland. He also has toys, posters, lunchboxes and more. Carroll will bring an original poster to show. The talk and performances are at Freeport Performing Arts Center, Holbrook St., Freeport. (more...)

Harris; Music by Trent Jeffords is being presented at the New York Musical Theatre Festival with performances at PTC Performance Space (Pearl Theatre Company), 555 West 42nd Street, NYC. Performances begin next week. Kelly McCormick, Beth Malone, Jason Graae, Brent Barrett and More Set for Music Circus' 2014 Season; Casting Announced!

California Musical Theatre released casting for the remaining shows in the 64th Music Circus season, a roster of actors including Broadway veterans, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus seasons, as well as actors with Sacramento-area ties. The five-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion includes the Music Circus premiere of the beloved Disney classic Mary Poppins, which runs through July 13, as well as other Tony Award-winning shows including Rodgers and Hammerstein's lush South Pacific, Lerner and Loewe's mystical Brigadoon, Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein's hilarious La Cage aux Folles, and the singular sensation A Chorus Line, which ended its week-long run on June 29. Music Circus casting for the season is determined after auditions are held in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento. (more...)
