by Gil Kaan - Jun 7, 2018

East West Players, in association with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, has another entertaining hit on their hands with the world premiere of playwright Nathan Ramos' AS WE BABBLE ON. Ramos' very clever, contemporary script (lots of screen grabs of texting and emojis) weaves a sometimes funny, sometimes heart-warming, always real tale of Benji, a gay Asian-American comic book artist and his close family of friends.

I was on a non-Equity tour, then I got to Broadway after a year in Toronto with Hairspray and eighteen months on tour. I'm playing the long game and I think that has made me a better actor and company member.'

BWW REVIEW: AS YOU LIKE IT at the GAMM THEATRE is a Blue Thumbs Up
by Larry O'Brien - Apr 24, 2018

The Gamm Theatre closes its fifteen year run in Pawtucket with Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT, so it was with mixed emotions that I turned right onto Exchange St. last Saturday, for the last time to be squeezed into the lyric, little bandbox of a theater. Fear not, theatergoers, they're not going away, just going to Warwick, where I trust they will continue to produce some of the most entertaining, interesting and thought provoking theater you can find. They chose to go out with Shakespeare and once again have found a new way to look at a play and led us to a new way to look at reality. It's what they do there.

BWW Review: HEDDATRON at Theater Arts Department Boise State
by Leesa Williams - Nov 14, 2017

Let me start off by saying that Heddatron is not a show that most community theaters would choose for a regular season. It is an Absurdist drama that would have a hard time attracting a general audience. Nevertheless, it is a mesmerizing piece of drama with some unique facets that make it an engaging drama for enthusiasts of theatre. First produced in 2005, it's defining characteristic is the use of 'functioning robots' or at least the semblance of such.

BWW Interview: Kyle Riabko of CLOSE TO YOU: BACHARACH REIMAGINED at Cabaret 313 is Something Different for Detroit!
by Katie Laban - Oct 27, 2017

Cabaret 313 is presenting multi-talented artist Kyle Riabko for two one-night only performances of his Burt Bacharach themed show, Close to You: Bacharach Reimagined on Saturday, October 28th at the Black Box Theatre at the Detroit Opera House in Detroit. The main thing is I pack thirty-five songs into about an hour and twenty minutes, and you start to realize just how many hits Burt has written that you know such as 'Close to You,' 'Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,' 'Say a Little Prayer,' and 'And Something There to Remind Me.' The list just goes on and on and on, said Kyle Riabko. It's really a journey through the music and career of Burt Bacharach, but it will also appeal to the people who grew up, like I did, not listening to him, but to Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and that kind of stuff because I play it from a guitar player's point of view.

BWW review: WILD GOOSE DREAMS at the La Jolla Playhouse
by E.H. Reiter - Sep 14, 2017

WILD GOOSE DREAMS at the La Jolla Playhouse is a play that juxtaposes the familiar and the unfamiliar, the real and dreamlike. It's a drama that is incredibly funny, it explores family dynamics by separating families, it deals with realities by augmenting it with fantastical elements, it talks about technology as a thing that connects and isolates, and it has a penguin keeps showing up unexpectedly.
