The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre and Artistic Director Rob Melrose has announced the 2022-23 season which includes six world premieres including three world premiere plays, two world premiere adaptations, and one world premiere musical. The 76th season also marks the return of the Summer Chills series, after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

The buzz on the internet about Sutton Foster playing Marian the Librarian in the latest Music Man revival was polarizing to say the least, but NO ONE can claim that Sutton Foster wasn't born to play Reno Sweeney in the classic Cole Porter musical farce, Anything Goes. Foster won a Tony playing the role on Broadway in 2011, and in 2021, returned to the role at the Barbican Theatre in London, belting out standards like the title number, 'I Get A Kick Out Of You', and the famous list song, 'You're The Top'. Trafalgar Entertainment and Stage2view filmed the cast during the London run and will now air the presentation in American movie theaters for two nights.

The busy story centers on the Laine family and their guest house; stressed father and husband Nick (Donald Sage MacKay) is busy caring for his wife Elizabeth (Katie Brayben), whose dementia has progressed to the point where she's like a rowdy child with a sailor's mouth. His issues double with their children Gene (Colin Bates), an alcoholic, would-be writer and Marianne (Gloria Obianyo), their adopted Black daughter who's several months pregnant.

A new video was released today celebrating the hit musical Girl from the North Country. Filmed in the Dylan Room at the historic Troubadour in London, the video features stars Rachel John (Mrs. Neilsen in the West End and Toronto productions) and Jeannette Bayardelle (Mrs. Neilsen at The Public and on Broadway) meeting and performing together for the first time. Casting has been announced today for the Broadway production of the hit musical Girl from the North Country. Reprising their roles from the production at The Public Theater will be Todd Almond, Jeannette Bayardelle, Matthew Frederick Harris, Caitlin Houlahan, Robert Joy, Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch, Luba Mason, Ben Mayne, Tom Nelis, Tony Award nominee David Pittu, Colton Ryan, John Schiappa, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Rachel Stern, Chelsea Lee Williams, and Tony/Academy Award nominee & two-time Emmy Award winner Mare Winningham. Joining the production in the role of Nick Laine will be Jay O. Sanders. Complete casting will be announced soon.

New York-based vocalist Svetlana will return to Joe's Pub at the Public on Saturday, September 21st to celebrate the release of her new album Night At The Movies, which was officially released today! The star-studded album, which has already garnered praise and attention from the likes of WBGO, JazzTimes and Jazziz Magazine, is her second release as a leader. The critically-acclaimed hit Girl from the North Country, written and directed by Conor McPherson with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, is to play at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End for a limited season from 10 December 2019 to 1 February 2020. Girl from the North Country opens in the West End following a run at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Toronto, opening 28 September 2019, and prior to the Broadway production opening in March 2020 at The Belasco Theatre.
