Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will produce Big Fish, a new Broadway musical with a larger than life story, this summer at the Civic Center Music Hall. Based on the Daniel Wallace novel that inspired the Tim Burton film of the same name, Big Fish runs July 21 through 25. The Muny announced today the complete cast for its production of Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn. Based on the 1942 film, Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin with a book by Gordon Greenberg and Chad Hodge. Greenberg will direct the Muny production with choreography by Denis Jones. Musical direction is by James Moore, vocal and dance arrangements are by Sam Davis with additional arrangements by Bruce Pomahac, and orchestrations by Larry Blank. The Muny's production of Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn is its second production worldwide. (more...)

Due to popular pre-sale demand, a year in advance, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will extend West Coast Premiere of Sarah Treem's (Netflix's House of Cards, HBO's In Treatment) thought-provoking THE HOW AND THE WHY, the third fully staged production to be performed in the company's second stage performance space, Harry's UpStage. The company will add an additional two weeks of performances to the original run dates. Houston, June 3, 2015— Houston Grand Opera announced at its annual meeting on Tuesday evening that its 2014–15 season sustained the increased attendance and fundraising levels achieved over the previous four years of consistent expansion. During its 60th anniversary season HGO presented eight main-stage productions, as it did in 2013–14, for a total of forty-eight performances.  Attendance matched that of last season while the organization's historic comprehensive campaign raised $172.9 million, beating its $165 million goal. Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today the spring 2015 honorees recognizing theatre accomplishments by Minnesota students and schools participating in the 2014-15 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program culminating in the SpotLight Showcase Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15 at the State Theatre (805 Hennepin Ave., downtown Minneapolis). Now celebrating its Tenth Anniversary, SpotLight is the Trust's premier education initiative which supports and honors Minnesota high school musical theatre students and programs that produce annual musicals. Announcing the program for Year TENN, Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival (TW Fest), Co-founder and Curator David Kaplan said, "This year's festival celebrates what happened to Tennessee Williams in Provincetown during the last ten years: his plays got performed here. We've rethought his classics, and rethought the plays he wrote that had been ignored or dismissed. The mantra that Williams had lost his mojo was replaced with cheers at the world premieres in P'town of The Remarkable Rooming-House of Madame LeMonde (TW Fest 2009) and The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore (TW Fest 2013). So we're bringing those two productions back for our audiences to cheer in 2015, along with eight other hits and variations." (more...)

Hosted by Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong, this Spotlight Night will preview the theater's upcoming summer shows: the ever popular Grease, the final show of the 2014/15, season and Matilda The Musical, the smash hit that opens the 2015/16 season.
