Just last night, Seth Meyers brought Jesus Christ Superstar to life in 'Popsicle Schticks'. The parody starts off with a quick nod to the iconic song 'Superstar,' then moves on to 'What's The Buzz?'. However, the lyrics sound a little more like this: 'What's the schtick? Tell me, what's a popsicle?' and 'Why should you want a schtick? Don't you mind about the popsicle.'

Last week, producers Marc Platt and Neil Meron met with members of the press to share some insight on NBC's upcoming JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT. NBC's highly anticipated special event is set to star John Legend as Jesus Christ, Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, Alice Cooper as King Herod, and Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas. The event will air live Easter Sunday, April 1, and will be presented as a concert staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic rock opera. It will be performed in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Alice Cooper, a seminal figure in rock 'n' roll whose compelling stage presence has made him a must see for five decades, has been cast as the flamboyant King Herod in NBC's staged rock concert of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE! to be aired Easter Sunday, April 1. As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Tony Award-winning producer, 'Hamilton' alum and 'Power' co-star Brandon Victor Dixon will star as Judas and join an already stellar cast in NBC's highly anticipated special event 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,' to be aired Easter Sunday, April 1 from the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y. Also joining the cast are Tony nominee Ben Daniels as Pontius Pilate, Tony nominee Norm Lewis as Caiaphas, Broadway veteran Jason Tam as Peter, 'M. A concert version of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, starring American actor Drew Sarich, is set to be performed at the Ronacher Theatre March 23rd-April 2nd. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the duo's second attempt at a biblical musical (following JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT) started as a concept album before making its debut on Broadway in 1971. It was still a decade away from making its Vienna debut, being first shown there in 1981.
