The Lakewood Playhouse is proud to announce the new Education Team for their LAKEWOOD INSTITUTE of THEATRE! Lakewood is excited to welcome Jeremy Thompson as its New Education Director and Deborah L. Armstrong as its New Education Production Manager.

Jeremy Thompson brings over 21 years of experience in working with youth in theater educational performance. He has worked in many theatrical capacities, including educator, director, actor, administrator, designer and playwright. He has also worked with such diverse theatre groups as the Live Theatre Workshop in Tucson, the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theater, the Village Theater in Issaquah and the Tacoma Little Theater.

"We are thrilled to add Jeremy to our team at the Lakewood Playhouse," said Lakewood Playhouse Managing Artistic Director, John Munn, "His years of management in theatre, and as an educator, ensure that our Lakewood Institute of Theatre is in safe, and secure, hands. As the Program approaches its 13th Anniversary, Mr. Thompson joins a prestigious list of former Directors such as as Maggie Knott, Casi Wilkerson and Jefri Peters. We believe that he will build upon their amazing legacy of educational theatre and further enrich it through programs of his own."

"Jeremy Thompson is just the first part of new duo," Munn continued, "We are also very lucky to be adding another member to our Lakewood Institute of Theatre: Deborah L. Armstrong -- Our New Education Production Manager."

Deborah L. Armstrong attended Lincoln Christian University; receiving a double BA in Music (Piano and Composition) with a minor in Youth Ministry. Using her internship as the way to be able to relocate to the Pacific Northwest, Deborah moved to Tacoma in 1995. In 1996, she began her career in theatre, working all over the South Sound region as an actor, artistic director, costumer, lead technician, technical director, lighting designer, accompanist, music director, stage manager, producer and instructor.

"With Ms. Armstrong's background in Production and Design, we will be able further develop the Position that originated with another outstanding professional: Ms. Nena Curley," Munn continued, "Deborah will be the perfect complement to Jeremy's Management style. We are extremely excited to see the many benefits that she will bring to our students in Music, Technical Theatre and the many other elements of Theatre Production."

The Administration of the Lakewood Playhouse feels that they have truly found an absolutely amazing team to lead their Lakewood Institute of Theatre. With these two at the helm, the opportunities for our Students are endless as their imaginations. We can't wait for them to get started!

The Lakewood Playhouse was founded in 1938 and has established itself with theatre that is both intimate and epic. The theatre is located within the Lakewood Towne Center, 5729 Lakewood Towne Center Blvd., Lakewood, Washington 98499.
