With tickets to The 5th Avenue Theatre's highly-anticipated holiday production of Disney's The Little Mermaid (November 23 - December 31, 2016) in high demand, the nation's leading developer of musical theater is working to increase accessibility to affordable tickets for arts buyers, now and throughout the 2016/17 season.

That's why, starting with The Little Mermaid, The 5th Avenue Theatre is partnering with TodayTix-a free mobile app that provides on-demand access to theater tickets-to launch an exclusive mobile lottery offering $25 tickets weekly on Friday evenings all season long.

While The 5th has offered day-of rush tickets at a discounted price for many of its productions, it has not traditionally offered a lottery system for audiences. Lottery ticketing typically requires customers to arrive in-person at the Box Office one to two hours before a show to enter for same-day discounted tickets. By leveraging TodayTix's mobile lottery ticketing technology, guests can enter to win lottery tickets directly through the TodayTix app.

The TodayTix mobile lottery program in Seattle will kick off with the first Friday performance of Disney's The Little Mermaid on November 25 and carry on throughout the December run of the show. As the 2016/17 season continues, The 5th and TodayTix will offer $25 lottery tickets to Friday night performances of The Pajama Game (Feb 9 - March 5), Murder For Two-a co-production with ACT (March 25 - June 11), The Secret Garden (April 14 - May 6), and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (June 8 - July 2). The lottery system does not currently apply to the touring Broadway production of Fun Home (July 10-30) or to special events such as Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music (January 6-8).

"We're thrilled to launch in Seattle with this exciting collaboration with The 5th Avenue Theatre," said Brian Fenty, co-founder and chairman of the board at TodayTix. "The 5th Avenue Theatre is a national leader in innovative arts programming and we are glad to work together to broaden access to their incredible productions."

In order to gain access to the $25 Friday night lottery tickets, ticket buyers must download the TodayTix app and may enter the lottery daily beginning each Saturday at 12am. Winners will be selected weekly and notified via push notification and email 2-4 hours prior to curtain, at which point they can claim and purchase their tickets in-app. Customers can pick up their tickets at The 5th Avenue Theatre Box Office starting 30 minutes prior to the performance.
