Premier amateur theatre company Sedos has created stage comedy Frenemies specifically for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016. Frenemies is a cohesive hour long show made up of six short plays all based on the theme of "frenemies" - people who act like friends but who actually want to see the other fail, or worse.
Despite being an amateur theatre company, Sedos has a reputation for mounting productions that are anything but amateur in quality. Director Dan Saunders says: "First and foremost for us is the joy of creating and performing; however, Sedos always strives to present a professional standard of theatre and Frenemies is no different". A cast of four men and four women play multiple roles in Frenemies, from competing mothers and annoying acquaintances to fighting flatmats and sniping siblings - even two sailors abandoned together on a raft. The performers range from experienced actors through to talented first-timers. For most, it will be their first Edinburgh Festival Fringe experience. The six plays are by writers from across the globe including the United Kingdom, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. While two of the plays are existing works by well-known 10 minute playwrights Alex Broun and Dean Lundquist, the other four plays have been written specifically for Frenemies.Videos
