About the show:

Bran flakes, anxiety and gravity. The smallest moments in history. The largest events in the universe. Blink and you'll miss it. This scribble from your chest. New writing about mental health and supernovas from Andy Edwards, directed by Amy Gilmartin

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

Scribble is, at its heart, about a conversation between two people - who are trying to better understand their own and each other's mental health. What's so exciting about winning the award from Assembly is that by bringing work to Edinburgh, to the Fringe, we're able to take this conversation and extend it out to a really wide audience. It's a chance to talk with a lot of people about something that's important to us, to share something we hope is useful to others too - that's a super exciting thing.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

There are so many shows at the fringe, such a diversity of work, that I'm confident there's no one thing that sets Scribble apart from every other show at the Fringe. One thing that we're really proud of and excited by is the liveness of the work. Each performance will feature a different actor in the supporting role opposite Alan Mackenzie. This actor will be reading the script for the first time in front of the audience, without knowing what's coming next. Scribble will be different every day, responding to what each performer brings to the work - their personality, their craft and their experiences. We hope this liveness will say a little bit about how we experience our mental health, it changes every day.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Our doors are pretty open. Everyone has a stake in conversations about mental health - and we all have a valuable part to play in that dialogue, with our own perspectives, experiences. If you're interested in space, interested in cereal, interested in how people work - then there's a good chance you'll find something of interest in Scribble. It also has at least two jokes, so there are probably one or two laughs along the way.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

On the theme of mental health, Kane Power Theatre's MENTAL is something we're excited about. It's a one man show about a son exploring his mother's mental health that's also on at the Assembly Roxy. Worth checking out we think.
