Tell us a bit about 1 Woman, A High-Flyer and a Flat Bottom.

My show is an exploration of the lost women of science to readdress the balance of doing a whole show last year about one man: Professor Brian Cox and my mild obsession with him. It's facts and funnies and I call it 'investigative comedy'.

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

I love the Edinburgh Fringe - this will be my seventh or eighth year (I have lost count)! The main reason I am bringing my new show to the fringe is because Edinburgh is the only place where I can get a 4ft poster of my face on the side of a building - anywhere else they'd say "who the hell is she?", whereas in Edinburgh people are just like "Ach I like her wee flying goggles". If I am writing a new show you can be sure I will do it at the Edinburgh Fringe as there really is no festival quite like it.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

I am in it - only one other show at the fringe can boast to that ;) that's my mixed bill show 2 Girls 1 Cup of Comedy at 11pm Just the Tonic at the Caves which I host. 1 Woman, a High-Flyer and a Flat Bottom is a personal show but it also has interesting facts some amazing women from the world of science so it's great if you want to up your general knowledge for pub quizzes.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

Any science fans or people who are keen to find out about some amazing women. I tend to have largely female audiences which I love but the fellas are totally welcome too - well mainly Brian Cox.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

Yes so many! Sara Pascoe, Angela Barnes, Sarah Keyworth, Evelyn Mok, Spencer Jones, Jayde Adams, Ed Gamble, Tez Ilyas, Rachel Jackson, Joe Sutherland, Tim Key, Sue Perkins.

Samantha Baines' new stand up show '1 Woman, a High-Flyer and a Flat Bottom' previews in London throughout July before Edinburgh fringe run at 3:30pm in the Pleasance Courtyard
