Tell us a bit about Black Mountain.

Black Mountain is about guilt and pain and redemption. It's the story of a couple running away to a forest to try and save their relationship. Or so we think, and so they hope. Except it doesn't go to plan because it's drama and it'd be a boring play if everything turned out fine straight away. It's a psychological thriller. We don't know what to trust.

Why bring it to Edinburgh?

This is my third show and third time at Edinburgh Fringe. It's a brilliant festival. It's like a World Fair, except for theatre and performance and comedy. There's a lot of good stuff going on.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

I haven't written anything else this year so that's an almost administrative difference to every other show going on. There'll be nothing else by Brad Birch. There'll be nothing else called Black Mountain either. At least I hope so. Imagine that.

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

I think this is a show for people who want to spend an hour thinking about people doing things that they probably wouldn't want to do themselves.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

I want to see everything at the Roundabout. Twice.

Black Mountain is part of ROUNDABOUT @ SUMMERHALL which will run 4 - 27 August. For tickets please see www.festival17.summerhall.co.uk
