The performance begins with an introduction that tells the audience that this show is about suicide and if anybody feels like it might be upsetting to them or they feel uncomfortable, they are free to leave at any time.

Minnie and Mona are best friends and they like to play pretend games. But Mona decides she wants to play dead. Real dead. Forever.

The words "dark, weird and creepy" are used during the show and I wholeheartedly agree. While I liked the dark humour, I think it might be a little too dark for some tastes.

The play is a bit of a strange one; although elements of it are genuine they make sincere sounding speeches about members of their production team committing suicide while writing the work and you're never entirely sure whether or not they are joking.

There are some excellent funny moments and I can see what they are trying to achieve with the piece but I think some elements of the show fell a bit flat. I liked the balance between the childlike characters and then the actresses switching to writer mode and talking about events in their own lives that relate (although once again, I'm not entirely sure if they are being serious).

Minnie and MOna Play Dead runs at The Dairy Room, Underbelly. Ticket information and timings are available here.
