Award-winning theatrical magician and solo performer Christian Cagigal returns to EXIT Theatre, his first time on the mainstage, with his powerful, poetic and breathtaking solo show, Now and at the Hour. Fridays and Saturdays, July 11 - 26 at The EXIT Theatre Mainstage, 156 Eddy Street in downtown San Francisco. All performances are at 8:00 pm; tickets $15-25, online at www.theexit.org .

What does a boy do when he grows up with a father who is forever changed from his time in war? He retreats into a world of magic. Now and at the Hour, is the semi-autobiographical magical tale of what it was like for Christian Cagigal to be raised by his father, a Spanish immigrant and Vietnam vet, afflicted with PTSD and Schizophrenia, and how that inspired and pushed Cagigal into realms of magic, mystery and the unknown. Now and a the Hour weaves memory, mind-reading, monologues and magic into an intimate, interactive and unnerving theatrical experience.

Christian Cagigal has spent the past two years presenting his shows across North America and England. By this show's opening, Cagigal will have just returned from Chicago for the third time, what is becoming a yearly event. And, after closing he'll be flying out to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the very first time. This Fall the documentary performance film of Now and at the Hour directed by international award winning filmmaker H.P. Mendoza (I AM A GHOST, FRUIT FLY) will be released to the public with special screening and performance. Date to be announced later this year. Because of the film's release, this will be the final year for Now and at the Hour and this will be the last time it will be seen in the Bay Area.

In 2013, Cagigal was the recipient of a Mastermind Award and was named one of "Ten Bay Area artists on their way to becoming icons," by the SF Weekly. He was also voted Best Magician of the Bay by the San Francisco Bay Guardian Reader's Poll for the second time. Since 2006, Cagigal has been performing his unique brand of "slightly creepy" magic, storytelling and theatre as an Artist in Residence at The EXIT Theatre and as a company artist with Beyond the Mountain in Montréal, Canada since 2012. His previous shows The 13 Steps, the popular The Pandora Experiment, the long running OBSCURA, the secretive happenings of The Collection which ran for a marathon of 13 straight nights of shows and the critically acclaimed Now and at the Hour which has been seen in New York, Montréal, Chicago, Minneapolis and San Francisco, have played to sold out houses and extended runs. He's currently working on the performance film of Now and at the Hour directed by internationally recognized San Francisco filmmaker H.P. Mendoza, due out later this year.
