B Street Theatre's FANTASY FESTIVAL XXVII School Tour to Play Public Performance 4/27

This week The B Street Theatre School Tourproduction of Fantasy Festival XXVII hits the road. This is the 27th year that elementary and middle school students throughout northern California have submitted original plays to B Street Theatre's annual playwriting contest for young people. Out of over 150 plays submitted this year, just five have been selected for the tour. The show presentsall five winning plays at 144 assemblies in over 108 schools in northern California between March 18 and June 7, 2013, with a special public performance at the B Street Theatre on April 27 at 10:00 am.

The winning plays are: THE TRAMPOLINE by Angela Tomasello from Williamson Elementary, Rancho Cordova, LEMONADE VS. LEMONADE by Dolores Villaruel from Cordova Villa Elementary, Rancho Cordova, JORDAN DA REBEL by Jordan Dreyer and Abby Benvenuti from Sierra Oaks K-8 School, Sacramento, ROBIN HOOD'S ADVENTURE IN CAMELOT by Josh Golden from Rocklin Elementary, Rocklin, and THE TIME TRAVELLER by Emily Walmer from Quincy Junior High, Quincy.

Young imaginations leap from the page to the stage in B Street's annual Fantasy Festival tour. Plays submitted by students each year are produced and performed by industry professionals as part of a fast-paced, highly entertaining school tour show that enraptures audiences young and old. The plays this year take the audience on adventures - a western town laden with broccoli, Camelot, encounters with Fairy God Parents, lemonade stand wars, and time-travelling film stars!

FANTASY FESTIVAL XXVII features five plays written by children, performed for children by professional actors, now through June 7, 2013 in pre-scheduled schools with an added public performance at 10:00 a.m. on April 27, 2013 at the B Street Theatre, 2727 B St., Sacramento, Calif. The two-theatre playhouse on B Street in Midtown is home to Mainstage, B3 and Family Series, each created to house quality theatre for audiences year-round. Recognized as one of Northern California's top professional theatres, B Street Theatre has produced more than 100 new plays, 60 of which are world, national, West Coast, or regional premieres.
