There was a bright, golden haze on the Circle in the Square Theatre last night, where Broadway's best gathered to celebrate the opening night of a Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. Oklahoma! will play a limited engagement through Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein wrote some of Broadway's most beloved musicals throughout their seventeen-year partnership. From South Pacific to State Fair, Carousel to Cinderella, their music defined a Golden Age of musical theatre and inspired generations of performers, writers, and musicians that continue to shape Broadway today.

The Bard SummerScape production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, directed by Daniel Fish, is coming to Broadway direct from a critically acclaimed, sold out run at St. Ann's Warehouse this past fall.

Winners for the 63rd Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced just last night at The Town Hall. In keeping with Drama Desk's mission, nominators considered shows that opened on Broadway, Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway during the 2017-2018 New York Theater season in the same competitive categories.

Transport Group just presented Man of La Mancha - its first musical in this season's Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series. The special event starred John Cariani (Tony nominee, The Band's Visit), Jason Danieley (Drama Desk nominee, The Visit), Santino Fontana (Tony nominee, Cinderella), Marc Kudisch (Tony nominee, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Julia Murney (Drama Desk nominee, The Wild Party), Bryce Pinkham (Tony Nominee, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Andrew Samonksy (Drama Desk nominee, Queen of the Mist) and Mary Testa (Tony nominee & Drama Desk winner, The Portuguese Kid).

The Portuguese Kid is now in previews ahead of an October 24, 2017 opening night at MTC at New York City Center Stage I (131 West 55th Street). Performances began on September 19. The show recently announced a one-week extension due to popular demand, and will now play through December 3.

Just last night, The Public Theater celebrated its Annual Gala, HAIR TO HAMILTON, 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, with musical direction by Rob Fisher and Nadia DiGiallonardo, the 90-minute concert featured songs from The Public's most beloved and groundbreaking musicals performed by some of the most celebrated voices in theater. Happy Birthday, Mary Testa! Testa is a two-time Tony Award nominee, for performances in revivals of Leonard Bernstein's On the Town (1998) and 42nd Street (2001). She made her debut as Miss Goldberg in William Finn's one-act musical In Trousers (1979), part one of his 'Marvin Trilogy,' winning audiences over with her rendition of 'Set Those Sails' and 'I Am Wearing a Hat,' as well as 'The Rape of Miss Goldberg by Marvin.' She returned to Broadway in July, 2007 in the musical-theater remake of the 1980 film Xanadu for which she received a Drama Desk Award nomination.
