The CW Network to Launch Its New Season in January 2021

The CW Network will officially launch its new season in January 2021 with its regularly scheduled series line-up, while loading up Fall 2020 with fresh original and acquired scripted series and alternative programming, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The CW Network.

As lockdown orders begin lifting across the United States, the Asian American community is not only concerned about protecting themselves from exposure to COVID-19 but also their physical safety. Since the outbreak of the virus, hate incidents against persons of Asian descent have surged throughout the country with reports of harassment, vandalism, and violent assaults. In March, the FBI assessed that hate crime incidents against Asian Americans would likely increase due to the spread of the virus and the assumption that certain individuals may associate COVID-19 with the Asian American community.

The Asian American arts community turned out for Wu Assassins stars Tzi Ma, Li Jun Li and Celia Au who were celebrating the release of the trailer for their new Netflix action series at The Concept, located in the cellar of Hotel 50 Bowery in New York's Chinatown on Tuesday, July 23rd. Assassins' themed Papo J's vodka cocktails and miniature cupcakes, created by Roger Yeh of YehCakes Custom Cakes, were served.

Netflix has released the trailer for its new series Wu Assassins, which follows Kai Jin, a young Chinatown chef in present day San Francisco, as he becomes entangled with the Chinese Triad's pursuit of deadly ancient powers known as the 'Wu Xing.' After an encounter with a mystical spirit, Kai reluctantly becomes the Wu Assassin, using his enhanced martial arts skills to recover supernatural powers from five modern day criminals threatening to use them to destroy the world.

Sundance Institute, in collaboration with A24, invites fans and supporters of independent cinema to celebrate writer/director Lulu Wang with a special premiere screening of her film The Farewell and afterparty at The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Wang, an alumna of Sundance Institute's 2017 FilmTwo Initiative, will be honored with the Institute's annual Vanguard Award presented by Acura at the summer benefit. The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

The San Diego International Film Festival (SDiFF), produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, announced today that they have honored Emmy-nominee Kathryn Hahn, star of Tamara Jenkins' “Private Life” with the Fairbanks Award, to honor her contribution to independent film, John Cho, star of “Searching,” with the Spotlight Award which recognizes an actor with the tenacity to forge new ground within their craft, and Christian Navarro, from the Gala Feature “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” with the Rising Star Award. The awards will be presented October 11th at The Night of the Stars Tribute at the Pendry San Diego in Downtown San Diego, CA.
