Jam ON TOAST, One-Minute Play Festival & More Set for New Georges' 2014 Season

New Georges' 22nd production year will spotlight on The New Georges Jam ON TOAST at Dixon Place, a new play festival that will feature work by the New Georges Jam, a "performance gym" for early-career playwrights and directors founded at New Georges in 2010 by Lucy Alibar(Beasts of the Southern Wild), Jess Chayes (HOME/SICK) and Portia Krieger (Eager to Lose). The New Georges Jam ON TOAST will feature 19 Jammers past and present - including two playwrights receiving their first New York productions. But first New Georges will kick things off with The 1st George Sand Invitational One-Minute Play Festival, the first all-women edition of the nationwide One-Minute Play Festival, January 13th & 14th at INTAR Theatre, featuring one-minute plays by over 50 female playwrights. The '14 season will also feature a special collaboration between New Georges and Barnard College in March, New Plays at Barnard, which will bring downtown artists and the new-play experience to students at Barnard and Columbia. Sosko play three Civil War re-enactors in the world premiere of Jessica Dickey's dark comedy, Row After Row, directed by Daniella Topol, Women's Project Theater's Producing Artistic Director Julie Crosby announced. Row After Row, which marks the 36th season of Women's Project Theater, begins previews Wednesday, January 15, at 7:30 for an opening Thursday, January 23, at 6:30pm at Women's Project Theater's home, New York City Center Stage II, 131 West 55th Street. The Flea Theater has announced the World Premiere of Mallery Avidon's MARY-KATE OLSEN IS IN LOVE. This satire about love and growing-up and "being real" will be directed by Flea Resident Director Kristen Seemel and feature members of The Bats. Previews begin November 1 with opening slated for November 18. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "this witty and wise play by on-the-rise writer Mallery Avidon tackles the notion of love, sex and marriage and the challenges of 20-somethings who think they know how to have it all." This radical re-telling of the events leading up to the Salem Witch Trials will be directed by Rebecca Wright featuring members of The Bats. Previews begin tonight, September 24 with opening slated for October 6. The Flea's Producing Director Carol Ostrow says, 'bringing Shaplin's work and his team of collaborators together with The Bats will be one of the most combustible theatrical events of the season.' Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Charles Ives Take Me Home, written by Jessica Dickey and directed by Daniella Topol. Charles Ives Take Me Home will begin performances tonight, May 29, 2013 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater at 224 Waverly Place. The official opening night is set for Thursday, June 13 at 7pm.
