After announcing this year’s list of Carbonell Award nominations last Friday, the organization quickly realized that clarifications and additions were necessary. This invariably happens with any complicated, first-time process, so the nonprofit organization ordered a recalculation of the scores in all 20 categories.

The Remy Awards, named in honor of Remberto Cabrera, the former Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs' Senior Cultural Administrator and Chief of Cultural Development, are given to those who provide outstanding service behind the scenes of the South Florida Theatre League Community.
The Broadway Green Alliance Announces Upcoming Free Green Quarantine Seminars

The Broadway Green Alliance has announced two up-coming free GREEN QUARANTINE virtual seminars on November 19th and December 10th. The series of free virtual learning opportunities began in March 2020 as a way to channel the collective creative problem-solving, community building, and storytelling skills of the theatre community.

Well, Hockadoo! Memphis at the Actors' Playhouse was FANTASTICAL! Memphis was so fantastical that you can 'stick it in your gas tank and it will make your car run…you can rub it all over your head and watch your hair grow back… it's so good your nagging wife will shut up; your kids will stop screaming…' You catch my drift? It's one hell of a production. I remember watching Once the musical at Actors' Playhouse last year thinking that it was magic and I had those same feelings watching Memphis last night. The moment the curtains rose the tangible energy rippling off the stage was exciting.

If it's Friday night, the lights are low, and you're looking out for a place to go, catching a musical at Casa Manana is generally a pretty solid option. In all honesty, there are few US theatre companies who can compete with their ability to bring Broadway-caliber entertainment to a regional stage. And although MAMMA MIA is not full of deep meaning, the jukebox hit still is able to scratch your Broadway itch.

The celebrated English farce, 'Noises Off', now playing at Actors' Playhouse in Coral Gables, has 753 door slams in its three acts. I know. I counted them. And counted also the laughs that came with each slam. 753. Exactly. Hey, it's a farce. And a brilliant one, written back in 1982 by Englishman Michael Frayn.
