Emerson Theatre Collaborative to Present HOUR FARTHER, 10/3-4

Emerson Theatre Collaborative (ETC), in association with Black Stars of the Great White Way - a Chapman Roberts and Richard Allen Center for Art & Culture, announces its production of the play, Hour Farther written by David Horace Greer, directed by Camilla Ross, and starring renowned stage and screen actor and singer, Kirk Taylor. Most recently, Mr. Taylor had the honor of working alongside the late Robin Williams and Mila Kunis in the film, The Angriest Man In Brooklyn directed by Phillip Alden Robinson. (more...)

The Muny and Webster University Announce the 2015 Summer Intensive for Emerging Young Artists

The Muny, America's premier summer musical theatre, and Webster University's Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts Conservatory of Theatre Arts, a national leader in training for Musical Theatre, have joined forces to launch a summer intensive for emerging young artists. This three-week program invites 10 rising junior and senior high school students from across the nation to participate in an immersive theatrical experience. The first Muny/Webster Intensive for Emerging Young Artists will be held during the summer of 2015. (more...)

Producers Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group today announced several principal cast changes for the Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince. The longest-running show in Broadway history and the most successful stage production of all-time, PHANTOM recently surpassed the milestone of performance #11,000 in New York an unprecedented feat achieved by no other Broadway show. The Broadway production has played to more than 16 million people at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street), the musical's home for more than 26 record-breaking years. (more...)

Today in 2009, The Little Mermaid closed at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it ran for 685 performances. The Little Mermaid is based on the animated 1989 Disney film of the same name and the classic story of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. The musical's book is by Doug Wright, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman (written for the film) and new lyrics by Glenn Slater. The original cast featured Sierra Boggess in the title role of Ariel, Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Brian D'Addario and Trevor Braun alternate as Flounder, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, and John Treacy Egan as Chef Louis.
