Last October, The Napa Valley Opera House celebrated the 10th anniversary of its extensive renovation and reopening. Since then, the Opera House Board of Directors entered into a long term lease with City Winery who have just completed a transformation of the venue which now features a full 100-seat restaurant and wine-on-tap bar. Laguna Playhouse to Present Leslie Caron & David Engel in SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, 4/26-6/8

The Laguna Playhouse Executive and Artistic Directors, Karen Wood and Ann E. Wareham are thrilled to present screen legend Leslie Caron, in her first Southern California theatrical performance in over 25 years! SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, written by Richard Alfieri, with choreography by Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line) and directed by Michael Arabian (Waiting for Godot). SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS will also feature 6-time Ovation Award-winning actor David Engel. "What an honor to have on our stage the incomparable Leslie Caron and the multi-talented David Engel," remarks Wood. "It's a dream cast and a dream come true. With Michael Arabian and Donna McKechnie directing and choreographing, this has to be one of the most anticipated productions in the Playhouse's storied history,' adds Wareham. SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS will begin previews on Saturday, April 26 and will open on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30pm and run through Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. Leslie Caron to be Honored at PDS' Annual Gypsy Award Luncheon, 3/30

Award winning actress and dancer, Leslie Caron, has been named the honoree for the Professional Dancers Society (PDS) annual Gypsy Award Luncheon, it was announced by PDS President, Mitzi Gaynor and PDS Board Chairman, Joni Berry. Ms. Caron will be honored on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel (9876 Wilshire Blvd.) and famed dancers/choreographers Dee Dee Wood and the late Marc Breaux will receive a special PDS Choreography Award, for their extraordinary contribution to dance. Pre-Broadway Run of GIGI, World Premiere of Susan Stroman-Helmed LITTLE DANCER & More Set for Kennedy Center's 2014-15 Season

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced its 2014- 2015 theater season today, including the pre-Broadway engagement of Gigi featuring a re-envisioned book by Heidi Thomas with direction by Eric Schaeffer. The Kennedy Center will also produce the world premiere musical Little Dancer with book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty, and direction and choreography by Susan Stroman; touring productions of Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Once; and back by popular demand following its record-breaking six week engagement in 2013, the multi-Tony Award®-winning musical from the creators of South Park, The Book of Mormon, will return for a limited engagement. The season also brings the eighth season of Barbara Cook's Spotlight series, individually showcasing five Broadway performers in a cabaret setting. From March 2 - 24, Iberian Suite: arts remix across continents will bring a multitude of theatrical offerings to the Kennedy Center. As part of the Center's efforts to support the creation of new works, the Kennedy Center will host the 13th annual Page-to-Stage new play festival and the 47th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Cenerentola e senza ombra di dubbio la fiaba per eccellenza, l'arrampicata sociale piu famosa al mondo che affonda le sue radici nella tradizione popolare cinese. Messa per iscritto prima da Giambattista Basile e poi da Perrault e dai Fratelli Grimm, questa favola vanta gia diversi adattamenti 'musicali:' dalla celebre trasposizione Disney del 1950 alla versione made-for-TV di Rodgers & Hammerstein del 1957 (la stessa ha avuto ben due remake e due riduzioni teatrali, una delle quali e attualmente in scena)... passando per My Fair Lady (1956), la risposta di Lerner & Loewe al trend della 'Cinderella story.' Per non parlare delle versioni meno conosciute - ma non per questo meno valide - come The Slipper and the Rose (1976), con le musiche dei fratelli Sherman (su tutti: Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), o The Glass Slipper (1955), con protagonista Leslie Caron. The 5th Avenue Theatre will present a concert version of Lerner and Loewe's Tony Award-winning musical, GIGI, May 16 through the 18th, 2014. Laguna Playhouse Shifts SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS to Spring 2014; A CHRISTMAS MEMORY to Open Next Month

THE LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE announces adjustments to its 2013- 2014 season of shows. SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS starring Leslie Caron will be moved from its originally scheduled November opening to the Spring, 2014 slot to accommodate Ms. Caron's schedule. Replacing SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS this November, the Playhouse will present the heartwarming musical, A CHRISTMAS MEMORY. Based on the beloved short story by Truman Capote, A CHRISTMAS MEMORY features a cast of seven in a tender portrait of a rare friendship across generations, during a time when life was much simpler. With a musical score that will bring love and light to your hearts, this show is sure to put our audiences in the holiday spirit. Additionally, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING (originally announced for April/May) will be included in the 2014-2015 season. (more...)
