American soprano Renee Fleming has been awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit by President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck, for her 'outstanding work in German-American relations.' The award is the only federal decoration given by Germany. The Broadway production of "Nice Work If You Can Get It" played for just over a year in New York with the fame factor of Matthew Broderick and Kelli O'Hara pulling in audiences. The current national tour may not last long either, with its only Northern California stop currently in Folsom. But the production, a reworking of Gershwin's 1926 musical "Oh Kay," features an equally charming pair with instant chemistry. George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint welcome New Jersey native John Tartaglia, from the original Broadway cast of Avenue Q, as well as TV's Sesame Street and the Emmy Award - nominated Johnny and the Sprites to New Brunswick as the sole cast member of Buyer & Cellar, the fourth production of the New Brunswick theatre's current season. Mr. Tartaglia will take the fictional journey to the fictional version of Barbra Streisand's fictional basement through March 29. Opening night is set for tonight, March 6. Roundabout Theatre Company presented its annual 2015 Spring Gala 'There is Nothing Like a Dame' last night, March 2, 2015 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria (301 Park Avenue, NYC). The evening was a celebration of Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Helen Mirren, who was presented with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre.
