The Algonquin Hotel has announced their 2010 Oak Room schedule, which will include a wide variety of cabaret performances. The new season will begin with Johnny Rodgers performing What A Wonderful World May 11-29. The show will feature his versions of 'What A Wonderful World,' 'Huggin' and Chalkin,' 'Too Marvelous For Words' and his own songs 'Home To Mendocino,' 'One More Moment' and 'The Best Of You In Me.'

On Saturday, May 1, the Straight for Equality Awards Gala honored Liza Minnelli at the New York Marriott Marquis. Liza Minnelli was presented with the 2010 Straight for Equality in Entertainment Award. This honor recognizes Liza's lifelong role as a Straight Ally of the LGBT community. Additional honorees included NFL Super Bowl XLIV star, now of the Cleveland Browns Scott Fujita, and international food services corporation Sodexo. The event was hosted by comedienne Caroline Rhea, with the live auction hosted by actor and 'Amazing Race IV' winner Reichen Lehmkuhl. BroadwayWorld was on hand to celebrate.

Probably my favorite recording of my all-time favorite Christmas song, Frank Loesser's 'Baby, It's Cold Outside!', is the barn-burning opener to one of the best Christmas albums out there, Broadway Cares' HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. While Christmas may be passed, and Valentine's Day just around the corner, it certainly warms the heart a bit to think that the audible affection affected by Alan Cumming and Liza Minnelli on that track spills over into real life, as they happen to be the best of friends. A rep for Liza Minnelli tells People Magazine that the singer is planning to undergo knee-replacement surgery in the next week. 'Minnelli, who has been dancing on stage she was a teenager, is 63,' the rep says. 'She is expected to make a full recovery.'
