Sundance Institute today announced the acting company and creative advisors that are participating in its 2014 Theatre Lab, which is now taking place and runs through July 27 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. The Lab is the centerpiece of the Institute's year-round work with the theatre community and is one of 10 residential Labs hosted by Sundance Institute this summer, collectively representing 15 weeks of residency support and mentorship for the most promising new independent theatre and film projects from the United States and around the world. This New York premiere by the acclaimed playwright of crooked and How The World Began (also produced by Women's Project Theater) who is a resident of a small town in western Kansas is directed by Shelley Butler and begins previews Sunday, March 30, at 2:30pm for an opening Tuesday, April 8, at 7:30pm (runs through May 4) at New York City Center Stage II, 131 West 55th Street. Washburn's new stage piece is about an American girl coming-of-age in a swiftly changing global order. Signature Theatre has announced a second one-week extension for GOLDEN CHILD by David Henry Hwang, directed by Leigh Silverman. The production will now play through Today, December 16. The production is currently in previews and opens on November 13 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).
