Penguin Rep Theatre will welcome artists, staff, and audiences back inside its theatre - a repurposed 1880s hay barn located at 7 Crickettown Road in Stony Point, New York - for its 'One Step Closer' concert series. Thanks to an anonymous donor, the ragtime concert scheduled for Saturday, August 14th at 7 p.m. featuring Terry Waldo and his Gotham City Band, will be free.

It’s music to the ears of commuters, shoppers, office workers, tourists, residents, and passers-by in midtown. “Terry Waldo’s Gotham City Band,” which specializes in ragtime, jazz, and blues, plays for 10 performances per week at various locations in the 34th Street area, including Herald and Greeley Square Parks.

There is much work to be done for the equity of Blacks in theater and when Broadway reopens, hopefully, it will be a new and truly inclusive Black Broadway. The book, Black Broadway: African Americans on the Great White Way, is a thorough examination of the history of the Black contribution to Broadway. The publishers of Black Broadway, Square One Publishing, have released a Kindle version and in honor of Black History Month, the ebook is available for $1.99 for the month of February.
